Do not waste your time or money with this bank, they are complete garbage. First Citizens owns this bank but whoever is in-charge should be fired immediately. Their app is absolutely horrible. I mean it’s a completely online bank, your Tech should be top notch. They take forever to credit transfers to your account. Im sorry but 7 days in 2025 when the transfer is complete the next day is just way too long. Their high yield interest rate falls constantly. Just avoid the headache, this bank sucks!

When I went to the account online (or on the app) to make a transfer an offer comes up for a higher interest rate. Very deceiving message because it cancels the transfer. You have to say no to the offer to transfer your money. I had to get an agent on the phone to explain that this was a retention offer. It doesn't say that. Overall it has been a difficult digital experience and I am ending it today.

Overall the bank account is fine. However, they said I'd get 4.6% interest on my savings account, which I never received. I received 4.3% on my first month and went down to 4% the following month. I'd have to say they are not "Honest" overall when it comes to their interest percentages.

Customer service of CIT bank is hampered by an ill constructed security system, and website (i.e. bad IT). I was told usernames have to be in all caps. Mine was in all lowercase was not rejected when I opened/created the account. So when I went to enter my account page for the first time, I entered it in all lowercase, as I had, when I created the account, the site would then request to send SIM codes to phone numbers that are not all connected to me. Of course this looked like the phishing expedition so I called them. I had 4 conversations with the 3 different reps throughout the day (the first rep was useless, I think because he might’ve been new and didn’t understand exactly what the problem was with their system) and it was obvious this is not their fault. It’s the website and IT security design. The last rep told me there is a fix coming for this or at least a notice about these problems coming out, but I wasted hours and they wasted hours speaking with me. Again, nota service desk problem. They are stuck with bad IT security and website design.

If I could give 0 stars I would. There customer service is terrible and demeaning. They processed a withdrawal from my other bank without my authorization, then when i tried to get my money back they refused and said id have to wait the week it takes to process into CIT then transfer it back to the original bank(which takes another week). As soon as i can get my money out I'm cancelling my account.DO NOT USE CIT.

Completely unreliable website. From 6/21/25 - 6/23/25 the website was completely down. However, it was just an infinite loading bar, they don't even have proper error handling. For all the brain dead MBAs who see tech as an expense....invest in actual technical expertise. How can you have a banking website down for over 24 hours with no notice to users. I moved all my accounts out. Just google "cit bank login not working reddit" and you will find multiple posts. Don't bank here.

At first it seemed like it was going to be very difficult to work with CIT after my father’s death. It took longer and more information to verify my identity than with other banks. BUT I may have just been being impatient. Once I was assigned an estate coordinator all my questions were answered and everything began moving quickly and thoughtfully. I received a check from them before all the other banks that my father had funds in that were quicker to verify my identity. I have to give a very special thanks to Johanna Campos and Isabel Alba. They have been really patient with me and have taken their time to step me through the process and explain everything. I am grateful for their time and expertise.

My husband died 5 years ago. We tried getting information from CIT bank back then - sent in the paperwork requested which included his death certificate. We got no response. Due to grief, I decided to try again later. Well, 5 years later we are trying again. Sent in his death certificate again along with my driver's license and the NOTARIZED paperwork. I have not moved - my present address is the same as the address of record. Got an email requesting I give them a call back to verify the account. I called back and they asked me ridiculous questions such as how was the last deposit made. How would I know? He took care of the account and he died 5 years ago. Couldn't 'verify' the account so now I need to wait another 3-5 days for their Estate Department to call me back. Let's see what kind of idiotic questions they'll ask or hoops they will have me jump through to get access to my money. Maybe I'll have to put a lawyer on this just to get my money back. My suggestion - stay away from this bank, especially if you are an older adult at risk for dying. Your beneficiaries will have a hell of a time getting their money out. A high interest rate is not worth going through this.
