Overall the bank account is fine. However, they said I'd get 4.6% interest on my savings account, which I never received. I received 4.3% on my first month and went down to 4% the following month. I'd have to say they are not "Honest" overall when it comes to their interest percentages.

I opened a high yield savings account with CIT bank. The interest rates appear to be better than most, however, there is no option to add a mailing address. My primary address is in a rural area that the USPS doesn't deliver to and therefore they provide a free PO box at the post office in town. With other banks you can enter a mailing address in contact information. I always enable electronic delivery of documents, but if CIT bank were to ever mail a statement, notice, or document, I might not receive it.

So far, I am rating the opening an account process a 3 but I am in a holding pattern. I started this process 7 business days ago and no micro deposits have started, although they say in 3-5 days and they also had me transfer the minimum of $100 to open the account. I am confused isn't the $100 suppose to take place after the micro deposits have been confirmed and that the two institutions are connecting properly? Next and more serious of an issue and something I see mentioned in one of the reviews here and on other social media sites as far back as one year ago. When you attempt to logon "as a new customer", the app wants to send a SMS code to your mobile phone, however, the dropdown box shows portions of 3 cell phone numbers (**********####) which are grayed out and not editable AND do not relate to me or my household. I am highly concerned why my phone number is NOT listed in this section ?? I have spoken to two representatives at CIT during the application opening process and they provided two very different explanations as to those unrelated phone numbers. So they were not on the same page or in the same training class. Therefore, customers are not getting consistent or correct information when it comes to account security just to open an account! I read on this site that the person was trying to close their account and they had the same issue with unfamilar phone numbers showing so that knocks out the reason my rep said it was showing incorrect phone numbers because the account isn't set up yet? If this account can't be opened by Friday (3 days away) which would have been 10 business days to set this account up, I may have to reconsider this online savings account at all with CIT group. I was leaving Marcus by Goldman Sachs because CIT had a considerably higher interest rate but I am not at a comfortable level yet.

This is your average online bank. There are many pros like high interests and very nice customer support. The only problem would be the lack of updates about my account when they are reviewing your account. Overall it's very good bank as long as you don't run into any account problems.

it's true, they have the best rates- But their game is to not raise rates on existing accounts. So you have to pay attention and occasionally close and open a new account. Another game they play is delaying transfers. Using your money for a week or two before they give you access to it. My latest ACH transfer cleared my donor account- CIT is now promising it will be "available" in 11 days- Pretty sketchy. Give yourself two weeks transferring money in or out. Online access can be pretty frustrating convoluted security steps. I spend a lot of time on hold trying to get access, at least a couple times a year.

I opened an account on 8-18-23. As of today 8-26-23 my deposit still on hold, even though the check has been cleared from the bank. Why is it taking too long to release the funds? It shouldn’t be more than 2-3 days hold.

Not a bad experience, but not great either. The website can be very confusing, especially to pay an invoice or set up autopay of regular monthly payments due. You have to set up another login to a linked website called "payconnexion" in order to pay items. You can't get to payconnexion directly, you can only get there by logging in to CIT and then clicking the link within that site in the payment area. Really weird, clunky, and old-school in my opinion. And, then, payconnexion is not very clear sometimes on how it is processing a payment. I've overpaid a couple of times because it reads one way but acts another. Hopefully with CIT turning into First Citizens Bank things will improve for the website and payments.

Updated review..After a few more tries and help from 3 CIT Customer Service agents I was able to finally sign up for the Platinum Savings Account. Hoping there are no more sign in issues and that the money transfer goes smoothly, for the 4.85% APY.
