High Fat Content made my dog sick.
The fat content of this product (fire diet) made my dog ill. Her triglycerides shot up to over 1,000 and she was lethargic and vomiting. My dog is a healthy, six year old female with no history of health issues, but at over 50% fat, this product was not compatible with her system. I feel horrible for feeding her a food that made her sick, and I’m issuing this review as a warning to other consumers. After removing this food from her diet, we are going on almost a month with no issues.

Allison, Thank you for sharing Penelope's experience, I'm glad she is feeling better. While most of our positive reviews come from patients who have improved on Fire Diet we understand this was not your dog's experience and I understand that how she feels matters most. One thing we do want to clarify is the fat content. The only fat in our Fire diet is from lean ground turkey. We do not add anything to the meals other than the vitamins and minerals to meet AAFCO standards and the real food ingredients we have been home cooking for years. The Guaranteed Analysis of our Fire Diet shows the crude fat at 10.5%. (This can be verified on the graph at the bottom of our "Shop Menu" page.) Our Veterinary Nutritionist lists Fire Diet as a moderate fat diet. For comparison, Royal Canin Gastrointestinal HE Diet is 18% crude fat while their low fat version is 7.8% crude fat. I think you are reading 53% from our "Percentage Calories" list. I know dog food regulations are not intuitive, but the only fat in our diets is what is naturally from the actual meat. Our diets are high in ground meat so they will be higher in protein and fat when listed on the percentage of calories, while our carbohydrates are low, in the tens or teens.
