I have been using chi food for about 2 weeks my dog seems to be ok eating the food but not eager to. He is a picky eater. I wish they had a choice of choosing the food and not being stuck with the same kind of food.

Hi Bruno,
Thank you for giving Chi Dog a try! We completely understand—picky eaters can definitely have their own preferences.
The good news is that our meals are actually very customizable. You can include any combination of our diets in your orders, so your pup doesn’t have to be stuck eating the same recipe every day. Many of our customers rotate between different diets to provide more variety, especially for dogs who tend to get bored with one flavor.
Please feel free to reach out to us directly. We’d be happy to help set up your account with a rotation or combination of meals that your pup enjoys!

A customer with a great B.
its expensive and no different from…
My review reflects my dog's actual experience with Chi Dog, not a misunderstanding of the company's claimed differences from other fresh-food brands.
Before switching to Chi Dog, my dog was healthy, had excellent digestion, and did very well on other high-quality, fresh-food diets. After switching to Chi Dog, my dog began experiencing significant digestive issues and poor bowel movements that had not previously been a problem.
I understand that Chi Dog emphasizes its whole-food ingredients, lack of organ meats, and Holistic Food Therapy approach. However, these marketing distinctions do not change my dog's experience or, in my opinion, justify the premium price. I found nothing about the product that distinguished it meaningfully from other high-quality, fresh-frozen dog foods I have purchased.
What makes this experience particularly disappointing is that I switched to Chi Dog based on a veterinarian's recommendation. That veterinarian practices within a private-equity-affiliated veterinary network, which makes me even more interested in understanding the basis for such recommendations.
Ultimately, my dog was thriving before this dietary change and developed digestive problems after switching to Chi Dog. For the price, I expected better results, not a decline in digestive health. I would not purchase this food again or recommend it based on my experience.

Hi, thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your dog experienced digestive upset and that Chi Dog wasn’t the right fit for you.
We did want to clarify that there are some important differences between Chi Dog and many other fresh-food options. Our recipes are made with human-grade, whole-food ingredients that are gently cooked fresh, and we do not use organ meats. Organ meats can be particularly concentrated sources of nutrients such as copper and, depending on the organ and cut, can also contribute additional fat. We intentionally formulate without them and use high-quality muscle meats along with fresh vegetables and grains.
Our recipes are also formulated with a specific whole-food and Holistic Food Therapy approach rather than simply being another frozen fresh food.
Every dog is different, however, and even a high-quality food may not agree with every dog’s digestive system. We’re sorry this was your experience and appreciate you giving Chi Dog a try.

The food is fine
The food is fine, but we notice at times that the packages are not well-sealed. We thaw them in cool water, and often, many fill up with water. We ask that you QC the packaging process. Thank you.

Jeff,
Thank you for sharing your feedback! We're glad to hear you're enjoying the food, but we're sorry you've experienced issues with the packaging. Occasionally, prolonged contact with dry ice combined with friction during transit can cause small cracks or damage to the plastic packaging. While this doesn't happen often, we understand how frustrating it can be, and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention.
If you ever receive trays with damaged packaging, please reach out to us directly. We're always happy to help and make things right! We truly appreciate your support and feedback as we continue working to improve our packaging and shipping process.
Warmly,
The Chi Dog Team

Great service but the cost of the…
Great service but the cost of the vitamins is excessive at $123.00 with tax shipping. Also why not make smaller portions available for us with very small dogs. I worry about it going bad before I can use it all.

Hi, this is Curtis, Manager at Chi Dog. Thank you for the feedback, and we completely understand why the size and upfront cost of the supplements can seem like a lot, especially when you have a very small dog.
One thing we’d love to reassure you about is that our Home Cooking Supplements have a 2-year expiration date when stored properly in a dry, temperature-controlled environment. Keeping the packages tightly sealed—or placing them in a sealed zip-lock bag—in a pantry or cabinet is a great way to store them. There is no need to refrigerate them.
For very small dogs, this actually makes the supplements quite cost-effective over time. Because their daily serving is so small, one package can last a long time, and the extended shelf life allows you to use the product well before it expires when stored correctly.
We certainly appreciate the feedback regarding smaller package sizes as well. We’re always listening to what would make home cooking easier and more convenient for our customers.
If you ever have questions about your dog’s exact daily serving or how long your supplements should last based on their weight, please reach out to us directly. Our team is always happy to help!

Although I was pleased with the service…
Although I was pleased with the service and the quality of the product, my cat refuses to eat ChiCat, even though I mixed it with his regular food. So I had to cancel my order.

Hi, this is Curtis, Manager at Chi Dog. Thank you so much for giving Chi Cat a try! We’re glad you were pleased with both our service and the food quality, and we understand how particular cats can be when trying something new.
Cats can be especially sensitive to changes in texture, temperature, and smell, so sometimes a few small adjustments can make a big difference. We recommend trying to puree the Chi Cat with a little warm water to create a smoother consistency, or gently warming the food to help bring out its natural aroma. You can also start with just a very small amount mixed into their current food and gradually increase it over time.
Every cat is different, and some simply need a little more time to adjust to a fresh, whole-food diet. If you still have some Chi Cat remaining, we hope you’ll give these tips a try!
And please feel free to reach out to us directly anytime. Our team is always happy to help with additional transition and feeding suggestions.

We’ve contacted your company two or three times about the packaging. It’s very difficult to open then you have to use a knife all around which is a bit dangerous. I really wish that you could change this. Thank you.

Hi Joyce,
Thank you for sharing this feedback with us, and we completely understand your concern. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know, and we’ve shared feedback like this with our team as we continue to evaluate our packaging.
In the meantime, rather than using a knife, we recommend using a pair of kitchen scissors to carefully cut along the edge of the package. We’ve found this to be an easier and safer way to open the trays.
Thank you again for your feedback and for being a Chi Dog customer!
Warmly,
The Chi Dog Team

Great Quality and Convenience, but Early Price Increase Is Concerning
I recently started my pet on Chi Dog food and signed up for the subscription and overall I’ve been very happy with the experience so far. The food itself is clearly high quality—my dog absolutely loves it and has been doing really well on it. I’ve noticed good energy levels, a healthy appetite, and no stomach issues, which is always a big plus when switching foods.
Delivery has also been excellent. Each order has arrived on time, and the packaging is secure and well done, which keeps everything fresh and makes storage easy. The convenience of having it delivered regularly has been a huge help.
My only concern is the pricing. I just signed up last month and am only on my second order. I’m ready to receive my third shipment and got a notification of an 8% price increase. I understand that the food is premium and you get what you pay for, but it’s already on the more expensive side, so seeing a price hike this quickly after starting the subscription is a bit discouraging.
That said, the quality and service have been great. I’m hoping the pricing stabilizes because I’d really like to continue using this product long term.

Christopher,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this — we really appreciate it.
We’re thrilled to hear your pup is loving Chi Dog and doing so well on it (good energy, great appetite, and no stomach issues is exactly what we hope for). And we’re glad the deliveries and packaging have been consistent and convenient for you.
We also completely understand your concern about pricing — especially so early into your subscription. The recent adjustment reflects increased costs across ingredients, production, packaging, and cold-chain fulfillment, but we know that doesn’t make it any less frustrating when you’re trying to budget long-term.
Thank you again for your support and for being candid. We’re truly grateful to have you with us, and we’re committed to continuing to deliver the quality and service you’ve experienced so far.
Warmly,
The Chi Dog Team
