Charter Vanlines they sucked me in and…
Charter Vanlines they sucked me in and kept raising the price on me. Espeicailly on the pick up day. They also lied and assure me that my stuff will stay on the truck and not be loaded and unloaded. First they gave me an estimate that was super low over the phone as I walked through the house over the phone telling the man what I had. I called them back after the contract and said I don't think this is right. I walked room to room withpacked boxes, estimating boxes, drawers with clothes, furniture, and I sent pictures of my packed art. They raised the price about 750.00 and said that was good. The a few days before the pickup, they made me take two hrs with them, recounting boxes etc and they raised the price again about another $800.00. On moving day, the mover says I need to pay them $2000. more or they won't move me. A snow storm of the century was coming the next evening. I bluffed them and told them I could easily rent a truck and drive on my own and then I ran upstairs to cry. I came down and told them I would give the another $1,000.00 or the moving was off. The man finally agreed after 2 hours. Of course, I thought my stuff might be gone forever, because I no longer trusted these people. They had obvioously unloaded and loaded my stuff a few times. The man wo delivered my stuff was angry and had only one helper who he picked up off the street. It was a long tiring day. I later found out I was missing my designer table legs, made fo steel worth about $1,100 and were not replaceable. After six months, I designed some and got my handy man to build me some for $900.00 They broke a few other items and offered me $36.00 total. In the past movers sent a person to myself who paid me money or fixed the items theirselves. I felt the table legs were sold for their steel or their beauty. Anyways after about 30 or more calls to both them and the insurance company, they went from $36. to $100.00 to $230.00, definitely not covering my duress. When I finally signed the agreement, it said Trnasit Moving Systems will send me a check and I should get it in three weeks. Three in and half months later, I have now called Transit Moving systems and CIS because I still have not received the $230.00 check. I will probably be suing all three of these companies. Charter Vanlines, Is a broker for other movers, so you don't know who is moving you. I will only go with a mover who comes to my home and estimates, and agrees to stick by it, and is the moving company and not a broker. So please don't use Transit Vanlines either.
