This place is horrible and should be avoided by women. I wrote a similar review on Google, but in short my girlfriend was the victim of stalking and sexual harassment within one of their units over the course of several months in 2020, culminating in her calling the police and moving out. Bungalow could not have cared less, implied that she was a willing participant who brought it on herself in what they dismissed as a “roommate dispute.” I’m afraid the chances are high a woman gets preyed on in one of their complexes someday unless they implement any changes in protocol, such as onsite management, in-person mediators and criminal background checks — none of which they will do as it compromises their bottom line.

Avoid renting from this company! It looks like Bungalow did a pretty good job of burying reviews that myself and my four roommates (they converted an illegal two bedroom basement apartment in Brooklyn into a five bedroom) left after we ended up in a 42 degree apartment in the middle of NYC winter with no heat, no running water, and no electricity. We asked the sales associate who gave us our tour if there were any prior pest issues on the property, which we were promised there weren't. Upon moving in, we discovered that there was rat poison that had been set out, and mice, rats, and spiders all over the apartment. On top of that, the ceiling leaked constantly and the walls had peeling paint. We complained several times and were met with dismal responses from the support team, and finally the apartment became unlivable once our heating and electricity had been shut off with no warning in the middle of winter. They offered us a $25 space heater as a solution to our issues, and only after threatening to sue Bungalow in accordance to the numerous violations to NYC housing laws, did they finally set us up with an Airbnb accommodations. Do not trust this company and definitely find another renting option, especially if you're looking in NYC.

Customer Service & Transferring Lease I CANNOT recommend Bungalow to anyone! I've never written a review before - but this time I felt like I had to! I have a 6 months lease for a house in Portland, Oregon. Unfortunately, I'm being relocated by my job - thus, I had to find someone to transfer the lease to. After multiple showings and spending a lot of time finding a suitable roommate to transfer the lease to - Bungalow highly disappointed me... The new applicant sent in his application and I confirmed him to transfer the lease - but then after one week and not hearing anything - I reached out and asked what the status was. I was told that the background check wasn't completed yet - and they had no idea when it would be finished but that it had already taken a long time so it would probably be done within few days. I tried to emphasize that it was very important - since he was looking to move in ASAP and my other roommates had already approved him plus he would be a perfect fit! Afterwards I followed up on Bungalow every day - and kept on getting ignorant answers with no date. Finally after two weeks, the guy that was supposed to move in had lost his patience and had to find something else because he had no where to stay. This naturally got me very frustrated because both me and the new applicant had done all we could to transfer the lease. Thus, I reached out to Bungalow and asked them if we could find a reasonable solution (potentially waiving the termination fee) since all delays was on Bungalows end. Initially they answered with: "We can definitely understand why you are frustrated with what happened". Afterwards they asked me about what date I would like to move out. And then suddenly, it was like writing with a bot that couldn't say anything else than "We apologize, but we can not waive the fee in this case.". Please be aware that it is an almost impossible process of transferring/terminating your lease before signing a lease with them - and do not expect any help or understanding from their customer service team!

I decided to lease a room with bungalow because of the cost, location of the house, and the company seemed alright. This was a mistake, and I wish I had searched further for reviews. I signed the lease and was shown pictures of the room through a virtual tour and on their website. They had shown me a totally different room; different shape, size, window placements, closets, and location in the house. When I got to the house 15 minutes after my move in time it was full of dirty dishes, half eaten food, dust, and clothes, I was under the impression that someone would check the room between tenants, but bungalow does not. Their customer service was extremely unhelpful, they have no phone number, and were rude and disorganized, they told me I was lying and that they would not help me, I now have to pay for their mistake as they are making me pay for a room that is not the one I was shown, and one I am not able to move into. Don't lease with bungalow, they aren't a company to be trusted with something as important as housing.
