The billing practices of Brightside are not in compliance with state laws of Minnesota. They went ahead and charged for copays I do not have with my insurance. I have no deductible and I already met my OOP max for the year. They have my insurance information but chose to charge me instead of sending any claims over to my insurance provider. They kept referencing my EOB to get answers but you only get sent an EOB if the provider had sent over the claim! Which they have not.

I absolutely love the idea but it's truly unaffordable. $265 is extremely high for a 30 minute visit where the Dr did Not seem to give a shit at all about me as a person.. it felt like I was just a number and no one can afford a damn near 300 dollar televisit that are actually free for me through my husband insurance. You guys really need to figure out how to make it more affordable and not try making a killing off of people.

If you were on a controlled substance prior you can’t continue it. Brightside is good for therapy only.

I have been using Brightside since the beginning of January 2026. My therapist is a rock star. No kidding, she has everything you could ever want in a therapist, puts in extra time with you and truly cares for your situation. I also appreciated the ease of making appointments with her as well. Unfortunately, their billing department is a dumpster fire. I, literally, received 14 invoices (dating back to my first session in January 2026) in less than 5 minutes time and was immediately cutoff from being able to contact my therapist. Now I do not have any issue with paying what I am supposed to pay but lets have a conversation about that before you cut me off. Maybe an email stating the oversight and potential solutions but to cut me off like that is absolutely heartless. I see a therapist for a reason and this BS just added to those negative feelings.

I have been a client with this therapy services for nearly a year. Over the past few months, I updated my insurance information, yet I was repeatedly told that my insurance was out of network. Despite multiple emails and phone calls, responses were delayed for weeks, and my account was incorrectly switched to self-pay. During this time, my appointments were repeatedly canceled or closed without resolution. I made numerous attempts to clarify the situation and was consistently informed that my insurance was in fact in network. I was also told that a manager would contact me; however, it took over a month and multiple follow-ups before I finally received a call. When I did speak with the manager, the response felt dismissive. I was told the issue was due to an IT error and that I would need to submit itemized receipts to my insurance for reimbursement for sessions I was forced to pay out of pocket. This resolution is unacceptable, as I had clearly communicated several times that my insurance was valid and in network. Additionally, I was instructed to contact my insurance company on a three-way call, during which it was confirmed that my coverage has been active. The lack of internal coordination, communication, and timely resolution caused unnecessary stress and disruption to my care. Due to this experience, I have decided to discontinue services with Brightside and seek care elsewhere. For a mental health provider, the level of miscommunication and administrative inefficiency I experienced is deeply concerning and counterproductive to patient.

Pricing is not transparent. I had no clue I would be charged $195, even with my insurance. There was no explanation of fees at all.

That’s my Purse I don’t know Y.
I’ve had a mixed experience with Brightside Health. My counselor has been good, but the platform itself has been very frustrating to deal with. Appointments are frequently canceled, changed, or no-showed by their side with little to no notice. This actually caused me to miss an appointment, and they still charged me a $95 no-show fee, which they refused to refund. Another issue is provider consistency and communication. You may be assigned a provider who is difficult to understand due to language barriers and poor connection quality—the sessions often cut in and out due to what seems like unreliable internet on their end. They also switch providers without warning, and every time this happens, you’re forced to go through a long intake appointment again instead of your usual brief follow-up, which is very inconvenient. Customer service has not been helpful. I specifically dealt with Jessica and had to send multiple emails with no real resolution. I would just caution others to be aware of these issues before signing up.
