Worst Provider Experience I've Ever Had
This was the worst provider experience I've had, on every front. The provider was rude, dismissive, and — most concerning — not knowledgeable in her own field. She opened by asking for my "diagnosis." I gave a detailed 2–3 minute history, including the anxiety and depression medications I'd been prescribed, past and current. Her reply: "So, I'll ask again. What is your diagnosis?" Thrown, I said I wasn't sure I had one in any official capacity. She responded, "You can't get medications without a diagnosis, so what is yours?" — as if the detailed history I'd just given her didn't count. It went downhill from there. I asked whether she was familiar with hyperbolic tapering for antidepressants. Her entire answer: "I'm familiar with a lot of things." I was struggling to taper off duloxetine, which is well known to be difficult to discontinue. She offered no guidance beyond what a previous provider had already given me — drop to 20 mg, hold, then stop — an approach that had already left me with severe withdrawal symptoms. She had nothing further to offer. In short: uninformed, confusing, rude, dismissive, and unhelpful. I've never had an interaction this bad across the board. Separately, my attempts to delete my account and records have gone poorly. Customer service first replied with incorrect information about what HIPAA requires, then stopped responding once I pushed back. If I don't receive a substantive reply, I intend to file a complaint under Washington's My Health My Data Act once the statutory response deadline passes later this month.
