Branch App card is a scam - they won't cancel cards!
FINALLY - after multiple VERY frustrating calls and emails, I have had my account CLOSED! I was finally able to get through to a supervisor and they canceled it for me. What a horrible company with the WORST customer service! Their parent company is Evolve Bank & Trust and when I called them, this is the number that they gave me (different from the one on their card) - 866.547.2413 __________________________________________________ I received the Branch App card for a 1099 job that I was considering doing; however, I decided not to do that job and never activated my Branch App card. I received an email stating that they would start charging fees for inactive accounts starting on May 15, 2026, so I immediately contacted them to cancel my account. I contacted them via chat on May 4, 2026, May 6, 2026 and again on May 8, 2026 to cancel my card and I've received nothing but a runaround. On Both May 4th and May 6th, I was told that it is "a complicated process" to cancel accounts and that it's been "escalated" to the department who handles cancellations. On May 4th, they stated that I'd receive an email from said department, which I did receive, but the account wasn't stated as closed in the email; they stated that they were "working on it". I responded to that email several times asking/demanding that the account be closed. During the chat on May 6th, the agent did state that the card can be closed on the same day that the request is made, but it's still a "very difficult process" to close accounts. On May 8th, I informed the agent that I would be filing a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau as they refuse to close this account. I couldn't understand what the agent was attempting to say as the English wasn't used properly and didn't make sense. I did file the complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and hope that they are able to resolve this. I do NOT want to be charged fees for a card that I never activated, thus, have never used! I imagine they're refusing to cancel accounts because they want to fraudulently charge consumers for inactivity. Branch Apps responses to complaints on here are canned, don't address the issue and only state to contact them again, but contacting them does absolutely NOTHING to solve the problem!
