Blink Hardware/Firmware is FLAWED
I have 2 legacy cloud cameras that still record to cloud no problem. I also added a blink doorbell, a motion floodlight, blink mini, and sync module 2. None of these will record to local storage for more than a few hours before it stops. I still get notifications of movement...but they do not record to usb at all. Upon contacting blink they had me reformat my usb stick. That didn't work so they blamed my internet provider and router. I have 1gb download internet, 100mbps upload...a brand new modem (2023). Every other wifi device in my home works fine...no connections issues. Blink has major hardware issues. This is the actual response you will get to save you time. If you get this customer rep call back and get another. "Given the nature of the issues you have been experiencing, we would advise reaching out to your internet service provider directly to discuss the configuration of your network. There are a few different things that you will want to have them check for when reviewing your network configuration/benchmarks. - Upload speed - The Blink system requires a consistent minimum upload speed of 2Mbps. Any result lower than 2Mbps can cause latency and/or issues establishing or maintaining a connection. - Network congestion - Many devices accessing and utilizing the network at once can result in connectivity issues with your Blink system as network bandwidth is limited. - Old routing equipment - Sometimes, the sheer age of a router can be the cause of connectivity issues. Despite a router being new to you, you may want to check on the age of the model of the router you have. We recommend a router model that is less than 5 years old to ensure it can support the latest technology. If you are renting your router from your internet service provider, you may want to discuss the possibility of an upgrade if it comes at no additional cost to you. - Packet loss - This means that bits of data are getting dropped or “lost” when communicated over the network, which can cause the entire command (whether that be connecting your device or trying to use your connected device to Live View or record motion) to fail. This "packet loss" can occur within your home (device to router) and/or within your connection from your router to your internet service provider's server. - Privacy settings/Parental Controls/Firewalls - While these are good to have in place for security purposes, you will want to make sure that they are configured in a way where they will not interfere with or impact your ability to connect your Blink system. It is important to note that the Sync Module and cameras each establish their own connection, so you will want to make sure that each individual device is allowed. Alternatively, you can try white-listing the device's individual MAC addresses. If you are unsure how to do so, your internet service provider can help. - Duplicate SSIDs - When two networks in the same location have the same SSID/name, this can cause trouble with the Blink system, as it may try to connect to the other SSID instead of the one intended. This other instance of the SSID may be in a different location that is too far for reliable connectivity or have an incompatible network configuration altogether. Thank you, Best Regards, Gen Blink Technical Support" That is what Blink Support will do for you. They are outsourced to another country and run by scripts as you can see the reply was clearly a copy and paste. They have no technical knowledge beyond sending copied and pasted instructions on how to format a usb stick (lol) Do they really expect your ISP to be their customer service? This has been going on since November. Most of the times they just ignore your emails so you have to call and ask for a supervisor to get beyond the minimum wage drop out employees. I'd be willing to bet this company will not be around in 2 years time.
