Simply one of the best e-commerce platforms out there. The customer service is top notch. They get you started in a breeze and professionally. There's plenty of support materials and options to choose from depending on your location and the products you are selling.
Great platform.

DO NOT USE
DO NOT USE. Was not informed that I pay for services at the end of receiving the services. Did not use the services. Kindly requested a gesture of good will refund of just £28 for the last bill which was billed after I cancelled and was just repeatedly given a computer says no answer. Absolutely no customer service provided and agent admitted that he did have the ability to offer a gesture of goodwill but was refusing to do so. On the flipside..I used Wix.com for an old website and hasnt realised I hadnt cancelled it and had been billed for it for a year, as a gesture of goodwill i was refunded 6months so if you need web services use Wix!!! A million times more friendly and helpful customer service

Causes constant problems for my business
Apps often do not work, which messes up inventory, search engine often does not work, they are not sure when it may be fixed. Addressed it with them, only willing to provide small amount of compensation. They are even aware of the issues.

Don not Trust anything they say for one second
“The future of e-commerce looks promising for small businesses. Let's take a closer look at how independent merchants can continue to sell more and stand out in competition with big-box retailers who also have moved online.” This is from an article that was written in Forbes by Eddie Machaalani who is the executive chariman and then CEO of Bigcommerce, a provider of e-commerce software in 2013.
I would argue that this is a not exactly true. That this company takes advantage of people consecutively and has predatory mind state like every other software as a service based company that simply inflates what it is able to do for it's customers and over promises and under delivers. The core of these hyped up promises start with the API. The API is a way of having systems directly speak to each other without the involvement of a person in the simplest terms.
We are a online retailer that approached big commerce and explained what we do in detail. They assured us that the software would support everything we needed to do in the traditional used car salesman fashion. Sales people desperate for meeting there end of the month quota filled with essentially the desire to get you to sign on the dotted line will do anything.
We signed up to our ignorance and were confronted with huge systematic limitations. Still assured that we could accomplish what we scoped out. According to there online white papers “the API economy can help you streamline your business, build customer loyalty, and increase profitability”. However they have a problematic system with poor performance and rigid constraints that directly were a misrepresentation of there services. They have unclear limitations and poor documentation that is designed to actually prey on small and medium businesses. It would be fair to say they supplied false information for the guidance of a business transaction or failed to exercise reasonable care or competence in obtaining or communicating the information. All of which was billed at 2500 a month.
In looking at customer complaints that are carefully covered by positive reviews we found out we are not the only ones that have complaints about this company but in essence had they just been up front about the limitation it would have saved a headache. It is however easier to just lie to maintain retention.

Thieves and Frauds
On April 2nd, 2019, Big Commerce promised me that for $2500, they would build an e-commerce web site and migrate all products, shopper groups, attributes, and past orders from a client's existing web site to a new site on their platform. After speaking with Meredith (the person who was my account rep at Big Commerce) and explaining my needs, she assured me that everything would be done and ready to go live in about a month. They took my PayPal debit card information to charge me $79.95 for the first month of hosting and they got started.
On April 26th, I called and told Meredith that I was unhappy with the progress and layout of the site and that although MOST of the products were there, the special pricing, shopper groups, and previous orders were not, making the new site useless. She said that they were still working on the migration and that if I wanted a better template, I could purchase one...so I did for $225.
Big Commerce NEVER DID finish the migration.
On May 2nd, they hit my PayPal card again for $79.95 for an additional month of hosting. It was at this point that I started to get really upset. Meredith stopped answering the phone. I eventually called her from another number and she answered and told me that she no longer worked for Big Commerce and that if I wanted a refund, I would have to contact Daniel Fertig, the company director. I called their corporate office 5 or 6 times asking for Daniel and was told he would call me back. He never did.
I then had to hire another company to get the job done because Big Commerce stopped communicating with me (other than to tell my son, who got through on their tech support line that it would cost extra money to finish the job)
On May 11th, Big Commerce STOLE $2500 from me. I say STOLE because I did NOT give them permission to charge my card (which they already had). They know they are wrong and refuse to take or return my calls. Instead of telling me that they couldn't do the job, they just took my money anyway. I am currently in dispute with my card company to get the money back. They are thieves.

Bait and Switch
So after many years of slowly building up our business, today we apparently crossed a magical threshold at Big Commerce. Yesterday, our plan's pricing was $79.95. (3 times what it was when I started). Today, our plan's pricing is $249.95, or another tripling in price (9 times what we originally paid). I don't use any additional Big Commerce resources...no extra support requests. Just crossing a simple sales threshold. A tripling of price is simply insane for a customer who is using no more resources than he was yesterday. I used to think Big Commerce provided a good service for a reasonable price. Today, that has changed. They charge an exorbitant amount for merely a good service. Go elsewhere if you don't want to wake up one day to a tripling of your monthly rate.
