barely had to wait to be seen and all the staff was very helpful and kind. Doc actually talked to me instead of just going straight for a diagnosis

"Bettermed" is a misnomer.
"One Star" is one star too many, in my experience. It should be noted that all of the positive reviews are one- line descriptions of how "wonderful" Bettermed was, with no details but, EVERY negative review explains in full detail how incompetent they really were.
My first experience with Bettermed in Fredericksburg VA. occurred after falling on concrete stairs and puncturing the palm of my hand. There were no other patients when I arrived and after being checked in and explaining to the "nurse" what had happened, showed her the wound and explained that my wrist was swollen. The quack-in-a-box came in ( looking like I had disturbed her nap ) and, after a 10 second glance at the hole in my hand, applied dermabond and a bandaid and sent me on my way -- no x-ray ( remember, I told them I had just fallen down concrete stairs onto a concrete driveway ), no cleaning of the wound and, no examination to make sure there was nothing stuck in my hand. Even after questioning her lack of thoroughness, she insisted that "she could tell" there was nothing to be concerned about. The dermabond didn't hold long enough to get home and I decided that I would not waste another minute ( or dollar ) there. Over the next two weeks, my hand would heal over and then a pus filled blister would form that I would aspirate and treat with peroxide and antibiotic ointment. Finally, a blister formed over the wound that appeared white under the skin but, this time when I aspirated it, I removed a small piece of white plastic from the hole in my hand -- I guess the quack's "x-ray vision" was not so clear through her bleary eyes -- After a few days, my hand finally healed with no further problems. NO THANKS to "Bettermed".
Most recently, I had an accident that, I was reasonably sure, had broken my index finger. Against my better judgement, I went to Bettermed in Ashland, VA. Again, they weren't busy when I arrived and I expected that I would be in and out relatively quickly. After I was checked in, I spent 30 minutes in the exam room waiting to see the "doctor" with my entire hand and wrist swollen and in moderate pain. I actually had to ask for something for the pain, at which point I was given two Tylenol. When the quack at this location finally got to me, I repeated my explanation of what had happened and he ordered x-rays of my hand ( why this couldn't have been done by the "nurse" who had been sitting at her desk for the previous 30 minutes, I'm not sure .. ) and the "nurse", who was previously sitting there, took me in to x-ray my hand. Another 15 minutes or so passed and the "doctor" announced that it was just a sprain. No examination of of my hand, no splint, no pain meds, no restrictions. Just instructions to take Tylenol, ice it and keep it elevated.
Three days later, in spite of taking OTC meds, keeping it iced and being unable to use my hand at all because of the incessant pain and swelling, I went to the local hospital ER. I did not tell them that I had been to Bettermed but told them that it had happened three days earlier and I had been self-treating with OTC meds and ice with worsening pain and swelling.
X-rays were then taken and, guess what the results were? My finger is BROKEN! They splinted it, prescribed pain meds and told me to followup with an orthopedic surgeon ASAP. I am now under the care of that surgeon as of the time of writing this review.
The short of it is, I have been to TWO DIFFERENT Bettermed clinics for two urgent care needs that, while not life threatening, did require medical care above "Tylenol and a bandaid" but, that is exactly what I received and, I would sooner seek medical care at Walmart or Sheetz than trust anyone claiming to be a "medical provider" at "Bettermed".
