Excellent service. ive wanted to do therapy for years, but never had the courage to go or scout out someone in person. Better Help really makes it easy to receive help. I'm able to break the ice messenging and the phone calls are very helpful

I had reservations about therapy, I was paired with an amazing therapist and now I can’t believe I didn’t get it sooner! Would reccomend betterhelp to anyone, but especially those like me, with reservations and somewhat of anxiety about the thought of therapy!

I pursued online help to gain insight on managing Grief from losing two children. It appears Betterhelp to be operating by BOT /AI software. At no time did I get a response that indicated a person read my texts. No response to anything I wrote. I was messaged back with graphs to gauge my progress. How I can determine my progress by journaling on a message with no response is beyond my capabilities . After speaking with customer service on the phone inquiring what my expectations should be in reference to a response from a councilor, I never heard back. I think this is run by an AI or BOT program. Perhaps some get a councelor, I did not. It appears the good reviews are Bot generated as well. Very disappointing in trying to get help for grief.

Being confined at home for social distancing, I found that a lot of my suppressed emotions and insecurities started to surface. Looking for a therapist to talk to one on one in person was intimidating because it was a huge financial, energy and time commitment, but also it was not really advisable for social distancing. So I turned to Better Help. It was the best idea because it was so flexible in terms of subscription options and also there was no limit on how many sessions per week or month I could get help. I was very happy with the therapist I was matched with and I would highly recommend Better Help to people like me who are a bit intimidated or nervous about seeking help.

Two stars... because I’m nice, I guess. The therapists are miss and miss. They often made me feel worse by asking me to recap what was said in the previous sessions (they couldn’t take notes or something?), and racing to get to the end of our current session. The overwhelming feeling I got was one of dismissal and condescension. The therapists who sign up for this seem solely focused on getting an easy income flow and devote as little time to their BetterHelp patients as possible. They want you to work almost entirely around their schedule, as if it’s a profound privilege to be able speak to them. Sometimes they said they had no time to talk and just wanted to shoot a few texts back and forth. But a cursory text or two isn’t worth 90 dollars per week. I can’t believe I have to spell that out. There are people who get paid nothing and these guys think they should get reimbursed at this level for texting. Right. Also, don’t expect much beyond cliches and truisms. Here are some of the words of wisdom I received: ‘take the high road,’ ‘trust your gut,’ etc. Thanks, I’ve never considered those concepts before. I think my brain will need to go into recovery mode after taking in so many high-level ideas. The payment structure is annoying to say the least. If you sign up for the (deceptively named) monthly plan you’ll get billed 90 dollars a week even for weeks where you’re between therapists or your therapist is busy. You also get gouged for the remaining weeks of the month after you cancel, which you will want to—trust me. I’d highly recommend steering clear. Therapy can be helpful, and plenty of people (me included) would benefit from good therapy. This service, however, is predatory with its payment plan and inconsiderate when it comes to the patients/phone chattel. I have no idea why there are so many positive reviews out there. So, in conclusion, I don’t recommend it. Shocking, I know.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. It took days to get set up with a counselor and I understand that, but when I finally got matched up he kept telling me he doesn’t do therapy via live chat or live messages. He is also only available at 8pm at night. There is no customer service number (besides the one that just sends you to a call center) and you have to wait for help via email. So what is the point? I can’t express the level of frustration I feel for finally digging deep into my pockets to seek help and I get nothing.
