Hi Camille, We are sorry to hear that you dislike the format of online therapy, or if you had a poor experience specifically with BetterHelp. We would appreciate the chance to gather more information about any experience you've had with us so that we can see if we can make it right for you. I've requested your email address so we can reach out to you directly!

My therapist is great. But this company is the biggest scam I have ever seen in my life. Taking complete advantage of people with mental health issues. Youre not made aware it is a subscription you sign up for first of all. So the 2nd month the money came through without me wanting it to. Then when I have then cancelled through the app it says I have 30 days left until I wont be able to speak to my therapist anymore when I have more than 4 sessions left. But I am going to lose sessions as if you book more than one session in 1 week because its another £20!!!! So I will lose the rest of my sessions or have to pay £20 to use the rest of my session. Absolute disgrace. So many companies like this prey on vulnerable people who need help. They don't care about our mental health, they care about getting money.

Hi Laura, We do make it very clear on the payment screen that you're agreeing to ongoing membership payments until the membership is canceled, and also make cancellation very easy. We're truly sorry if this was not clear. When you cancel, we still allow you to use your prepaid membership time, which includes the option of having a weekly live session, if desired. If you are having trouble scheduling a session each week due to your therapist's availability, our Member Success team can help by adjusting your billing cycle as needed. To streamline the support for you here, I've requested the email address linked to your account so we can have a manager reach out to you directly, if you still need help! Talk soon, BetterHelp Team

Well with my experience so far, im glad they found somone who can relate. They just didnt put me with somone who had experience through a book or course online. Somone who also had outside experience besides being a therapist, know what one went through and how one can take that bad energy and use it towards positive mindset. I can have a bad week and we break it down and see what one can do to overcome that bump in the road.

They make it easy to switch therapists. They are super helpful when it is needed. With a few exceptions, I have been thrilled with the therapists I have worked with. I love that there is a portal for you to communicate with your therapist at any time. I love the variety of ways to meet with the therapist and I appreciate that there have been next to zero issues with the platform.

The cost compared to in person therapy is much cheaper. I liked having the ability to pick my own therapist and time to meet.

I had the best therapist through this service. Thank you Otilia!

My experience started with them asking me a lot of questions, which lead to pages of information. Then they made me aware that they didn't accept my insurance, told me how much I would have to pay weekly and a page came up for my credit or debit card information. I had no other information from them at that point. I filled-out a lot of information, pages of information and gave personal information about myself, including my phone number and email address. They sent me an email welcoming me to BetterHelp and had me to setup an account, only to get to the last page and find out that they don't accept my insurance and I can't afford the weekly payments. I felt that could have all been avoided by letting me know their payment information upfront. Also on the last page (after getting all my information and welcoming me), they asked for my credit card information without giving me any information about an assigned therapist, his/her schedule or anything. I decided not to go any further with them at that point. They are listed as the number one online therapy group on at least 2 sites. I would've expected better from a #1 company. They could have explained initially what insurances they accept and/or don't accept, and explained how much their services would cost before asking for tons of information. If a person knows in advance if she can or can not afford their services, then she will know if she should move forward with trying to obtain their services or not. Then, it wouldn't have been a waste of anyone's time, effort or expectations.

Hi Trudy, We're sorry if we were not able to work with your insurance company, as well as for any disappointment surrounding the out-of-pocket pricing for a membership. We do not require payment prior to matching anyone with a therapist, and even if that information is provided, the membership cycle doesn't begin until the therapist match is made. In any case, we can understand why you might be disappointed based on your experience. If you'd be open to it, we can reach out to you directly to see if there's anything we might be able to do in terms of reduced pricing, and of course, can help you find a personalized therapist match. You'll receive a request through Trustpilot soon for more information. Take care, BetterHelp Team
