My husband has been working on getting an answer on a claim since June 26th of this year. He’s been told he’d have an answer within the next day or two 2 weeks ago at this point. Our agent claims she’s going to stay on top of it and follow up with updates regularly. Unfortunately, still the same patterns. Claim is still open, still no resolution, still being given the runaround with rather little communication. He was the one who had to reach out twice last week after waiting over a week to hear from anyone. The last incoming call he received was on 9/23. All outbound calls have since received automated responses like “I’ll call you back shortly or I’ll call you back in 5 minutes” to never receive that call. He reported everything promptly, cooperated with every single document request, sat for whatever they asked, and provided a complete paper trail. In return, the claim was routed to a third-party Special Investigations Unit and I received a Reservation of Rights letter that cherry-picked an unrelated inspection report to argue the damage was somehow pre-existing, rather than seriously engaging with the actual sequence of events. Beyond the claim handling itself, the communication has been the most frustrating part. The assigned agent has told me "I'll follow up tomorrow" more times than he can count, and tomorrow never comes. No proactive updates, no accountability, just repeated promises that go nowhere. He’s had to be the one chasing status on our own claim, almost every single time. For a company that markets itself on "customer advocacy," this has been the opposite experience. If you're evaluating homeowners insurers, factor in not just the premium, but whether a company actually shows up when you need them during a claim. Based on our experience, this one does not. Get everything in writing, and don't be surprised if you need outside help (attorney/public adjuster) to get movement.

I've been a fully cooperative policyholder throughout this claims process (filed 6/26/26), and Bamboo Insurance / Accredited Specialty Insurance Company has repaid that cooperation with months of stonewalling. I filed a claim in good faith from an issue that arose with my house. Instead of a timely, straightforward review, the claim was handed to their Special Investigations Unit and I received a Reservation of Rights letter listing a disputed date of loss and leaning on an unrelated pre-purchase inspection report to suggest the damage was "pre-existing." I’m a first time home owner and my understanding is if you see a big enough issue, file a claim which is exactly what I did. I have provided everything requested: documentation, records, cooperation at every step and I am still waiting on a decision. This is well beyond what should be a reasonable timeframe. This is not how a company should treat a paying customer during one of the most stressful moments of homeownership: an active property loss. If you're shopping for homeowners insurance, know that a clean claim history and full cooperation on your end does not guarantee a timely or fair process here. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this insurer to look elsewhere, and I'd encourage current policyholders in a dispute to involve an attorney or public adjuster early. Don't expect this company to move quickly or fairly on its own.

I was told by the agent who answered my call that I would receive an email within 24 hours so that I could access my account online. It's been over 24 hours and nothing. I need access to my home insurance policy.

Horrible customer service. Their website is useless. I emailed them two months ago asking them to correct my email address. No reply and email continues to go to my wife's email address. Besides that, they blended my middle and last names into a single last name. No one responds to customer service email requests. I recently paid my whole year homeowners premium by credit card. The funds were transferred a month ago. Yesterday, my wife gets a message that the account on which payment was drawn is closed. Wrong -- they received full payment over a month ago. Bamboo insurance is a clown show. I'll be switching insureres at the first opportunity.

Hi Larry, Two months without a response on an email correction, plus a name error and a payment mix-up on top of it, is a lot of frustration to deal with, and we're sorry you've had to go through that. That's not the level of service we want anyone to experience, and it needs a real look. A member of our customer service team will be in touch shortly to follow up directly. Thank you, Bamboo Insurance

Through no fault of my own , my policy was canceled and a refusal to rewrite my policy left me in a financial downfall. Bamboo said they sent to bill to my mortgage company and My mortgage company didn't pay it. My mortgage company said they requested the bill from bamboo and bamboo never sent the bill. I have nothing to do with either one but I don't understand how 2 companies that are paid to do this for me. I've dropped the ball, and the mistake is costing me money. Somehow

Bamboo automatically debited payment from our account for the renewal, despite informing them a month prior that we were canceling ourhome insurance. We were OOO and was not able to catch the withdrawal, and now they are telling us that it will take over a month to process the refund! The withdrawal was unauthorized to begin with so I am also filing a complain with the California Department of Insurance.

Hi Charina, We're truly sorry to hear about this experience - an unexpected charge while you were out of town, followed by a lengthy wait for a refund, is genuinely frustrating, and we understand why you're upset. This isn't the experience we want anyone to have, and we take concerns like yours seriously. We'd like to look into what happened with your cancellation request and the subsequent renewal charge right away.
