Avoid using Bamboo at all costs! They’ve been such a headache for the past 4 months. The underwriters requested my ring appraisal to finish the paperwork, I sent it within a day, one month later, I get a letter from my mortgage company stating I don’t have homeowners insurance. I went back and forth with Bamboo, they said it was their mistake, still charged me $10 to reinstate my insurance, then said I was good. A month later, another letter from my mortgage company stating the same. I call Bamboo, they claim their underwriters are still finishing the paperwork-it’d been months already! More calls, they said it was fixed (again) then 3 weeks later they send me a cancellation notice. When I call, turns out they had put another $10 reinstatement fee on the account and since it wasn’t paid, they were cancelling the entire account. A fee I didn’t owe and knew nothing about.

Sales teams are great. Customer service - horrible
Update 6/17/26: Reducing to 1 star and would be down to ZERO if it was an option. After spending nearly 3 hours of my life emailing, calling and jumping trough all sorts of hoops, I completed requested forms and few days later got the same response from CS as before - not resolving anything. Why ask someone to complete forms that will simply be ignored? Horrible experience.
Sales teams are great - will spend whatever amount of time you need to get you signed. Once you do, you will quickly realize that their customer service sucks. Getting someone on the phone is extremely difficult.
Just recently called to make a small edit to ensure my name is properly spelled in their system to receive a reimbursement check from them - on hold for over 30 minutes, while automated message kept saying "there are ZERO people ahead of you" and "your wait time is ZERO minutes".

Hundreds of plaintiffs every DAY are…
Hundreds of plaintiffs every DAY are…
Hundreds of plaintiffs every DAY are filing against this Co. Same playbook-Take as little information when you first get the policy, then they use that lack of documentation against you. IF you file a claim, they lie alledgedly, even when provided with evidence of said information in dispute. Why so they can rescind the policy and make you sue them. Don't wait months or over a year to sue them in court. Right at the 3 month mark, FILE the lawsuit. Because otherwise you are just risking your financial health.
Here are some facts to help you out:
Consumer Alert: Bamboo Insurance Practices
1. Consumers should exercise caution when dealing with Bamboo Insurance. Based on my experience and publicly available information, this company appears to operate on a model that prioritizes profits over policyholder protections.
2. Claims Handling Issues
Policy benefits often become effectively unusable once a claim is filed.
3. Standardized denial letters frequently state that “there’s no coverage for this claim,” without substantive explanation or investigation.
Policyholders report difficulty reaching any claims representative for follow-up, leaving them without support.
Claim data is forwarded into industry databases, which may limit the policyholder’s ability to obtain coverage from other insurers in the future.
4. Business Model Concerns
Company leadership has openly described a strategy of ensuring that payouts remain lower than premiums collected.
Bamboo relies on extensive data collection and algorithmic claim-screening, which appears designed to reduce payouts rather than evaluate claims in good faith.
Internal metrics reportedly prioritize agency profit margins and revenue per employee, rather than consumer protections.
5. Transparency and Accountability
While marketing emphasizes affordability and accessibility, consumer reports describe minimal to no claim payouts.
Positive reviews generally focus on obtaining policies after being dropped by other carriers, while negative reviews overwhelmingly concern the claims process.
Public financial disclosures suggest strong profitability despite widespread consumer dissatisfaction.
6. Regulatory Concerns
Bamboo’s approach mirrors prior controversies in the industry, such as the use of AI and data-driven denial systems that regulators have already fined other insurers for.
Given the volume of consumer complaints and the potential systemic impact of their technology-driven claim denial practices, this company warrants close regulatory scrutiny.
Conclusion
Bamboo Insurance was founded in 2018, raised significant funding by 2023, and has rapidly grown its book of business. However, consumer lawsuits and complaints are beginning to mount.
The company’s practices raise serious questions about whether it engages in unfair or bad-faith claim handling. Consumers should be fully informed and regulators should consider investigating Bamboo’s business model and claims practices.

Furthermore, predatory Bamboo billed my credit card for an unauthorized payment on February 27, 2026, even though the payment was due on March 2, 2026, and charged/collected a significantly higher amount (while I normally pay Bamboo through my bank without extra fees). This is an electronic payment fraud by Bamboo.

I was charged $975 to renew a policy…
I was charged $975 to renew a policy and then was charged $250 to cancel the policy upon selling the house 13 days later. And spent over an hour on hold with CS while seeking understanding. Buyer beware….they will ROB YOU!

Not on the up and up
I sent an email asking your company to explain why I am having taxes on my insurance as well as service charges. I guess you do this for more clients than me, but why would insurance be taxed? An email was sent telling me to call your customer service, and after 20 minutes of checking, the very nice woman explained they still don't have an answer but they are going to send an email to explain. Another week plus later, I am still waiting. DURING THAT SAME CALL, the lady explained to me that by splitting payments into thirds, your company was going to surcharge me an additional 10%, which your SALES AGENT NEVER EXPLAINED. That's like $500 on one property, and a better agent would have spelled it out. IF YOU SEE THIS, I AM STILL WAITING FOR ANSWERS.

Hi there,
Thank you for sharing your experience. We sincerely apologize for the delay and any confusion regarding your billing. We have attempted to reach you directly and will make additional attempts today. If we aren’t able to connect by phone, we will also follow up via email.
To clarify in the meantime, the installment fee is $10 per installment, rather than 10% of your premium. When we talk, we’ll also provide a detailed breakdown of your billing, including the policy fee and other applicable charges.
Our goal is to make sure you have clear answers and feel confident in your coverage. We appreciate your patience and look forward to resolving this for you as quickly as possible.
All the best,
Bamboo Insurance

Next to impossible to receive any reliable customer service
I called Bamboo directly and spoke to a customer service agent to change the auto payment information for my policy. I get an email the next day stating changes couldn't be make due to incorrect policy number given. How can this be when I spoke to their representative who said it was taken care of?
Also, I cannot gain internet access. I've requested a password change but I never receive a link to do so. It's impossible to interact via internet unless you want to make a payment.
They do not respond to calls on the weekends. How irresponsible for an insurance carrier!
I hope I never have to file a claim with them. I can only imagine the difficulty that would entail.
