This company is up to no good. Back in August 2019 I received a charge on my credit card for $269.00. Someone obviously hacked my credit card number. I tried to resolve it with Citbank who at first credited me the money, but then took my credit away because Backwater Reptiles send them "proof" which consisted of blackened/retracted copies of a driver's license and an email to someone named "Stanley Nunez" who they say made the purchase. This was not me and I do not know a Stanley Nunez!! I am still trying to resolve this with Citibank and calls to Backwater Reptiles go directly to a voicemail no matter what time of day or what day you try and call their number. I left numerous messages for a call back and did not receive one. There is something VERY shady about this company. Whether they hacked my credit card or they don't care someone committed fraud by using it to buy from them, they are SHADY!

I ordered about 50 Dubia roaches a few weeks ago. They finally showed up in my mailbox six days late with every single roach dead. I called their customer service number and got no answer. Upon reaching voicemail their inbox was full. I emailed their customer support and received no response. This company is a disgrace to the industry. Avoid at all costs.

Great experience. My butterfly agama lizard arrived healthy and well packaged. Will order from them again.

Horrible customer service. Tried for the first time and is the worst ever...hopefully I receive my iguana soon!!!

I ordered a Sulcata hatchling from Backwater Reptiles. I ordered before I read the reviews and then once I did I was extremely worried. I have to say I was so worried that I ordered another hatchling from tortoise town who had great reviews! Well, I had no need to worry. My hatchling was shipped immediately the same day. She was missing for a day, but it was at no fault of Backwater. I notified FEDEX immediately and they rushed to find the order and she was delivered the next day. When she arrived she was in a small box with holes punched in the side. Inside the box there was styrofoam and she was in a small plastic container. I was not too happy that there was no heating pad, but my hatchling was no worse for the wear. I rushed her in to put her under the light as recommended by other reviewers, but she was lively from the start. She is extremely friendly and very active. I contacted customer service and they responded quickly when FEDEX had temporarily lost her. I was impressed with their quick response. Now, tortoise town not only still has not shipped my hatchling which I ordered and the payment cleared on May 9th but I have had to complain everyday just to get my hatchling shipped. Please be warned that although this company has low ratings I can honestly say I would order from them again in a heart beat over tortoise town.

Buyer beware. The first time I ordered from them I paid for a heat pack that was not with the crickets upon delivery. The second time I ordered from them I waited a whole week and still no crickets even though it's overnight delivery. I complained about the time so they cancelled my order. Now I get to rush delivery crickets from somewhere else while I wait for them to refund my order of 1k crickets.

Read the review AFTER I made my purchase. I was nervous but in the end I was pretty satisfied with what came in. I have 1 sling ornate tree tarantulas and 1 Goliath tarantula as well as a Borneo blood python. All arrived on time and healthy. I was hoping for a gooty sapphire and cobalt tarantula but they were outta stock. I can see myself doing business again in the future

I would give 0 stars if I could. I ordered a panther Chameleon from them and now she is struggling to live. I’ll be lucky if she makes it to Monday for her vet visit. This site is a SCAM. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM ! my little girl is going to struggle to live because these people don’t know what the hell they’re doing. I’m so disappointed and disgusted with this place.
