I am impressed. I purchased 2 axolotls that came today from Backwater Reptiles and I asked them to hand pick a good, healthy Lucy and a wild type. I was shocked to see the Lucy, no flakes or freckles and is a classic looking lucy, very good looking, then came the wild classic which I am blown away by his color, markings, and his beautiful gill antlers and the amount of racks, def the best looking axolotls I've seen or owned in the past. The staff went above and beyond to pick out, and chose 2 of their best for me. Thanks guys, you made my winter, lol. Looking forward to ordering from you and not messing with the other stores, if you want a critter you will be pleased with the quality of the animals and shipping was a breeze, 5 stars, easily😋

Worst business EVER!!! Non existent customer service and sent me a sick salamander. Died the following day and blamed me and said it got attacked or I abused it!! Was in a terrarium all by itself. And didn’t abide by their 7 day policy!!! Scammers. Trash business!!! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Terrible place stay away. Sells you something they don’t have !Then wants to replace with something else and cancels order

Backwater Reptiles sent me a sick turtle that would not eat. I bought 2 and the one arrived healthy and ate well while the other was lethargic and would not eat. I contacted them when the one turtle died several days after arrival and they blamed the death on me for not providing food for the turtle. I have raised many turtles and this has never happened. Will not use them again for ordering animals. Very disappointed!

Pathetic. Website processing times are lies.

I’m not gonna talk about the fact they sent me a sick rough skinned newt because I know that it isn’t under their care. In fact they sold me two newts one was dead on arrival and usually if that happens I move on with life because shipping small animals is stressful, but I can’t let them get away with this as oh well it happens. First never ship amphibians with heat packs that is the worst thing you can do to them, yes it may have been cold where I live but newts especially the species I bought can withstand cold weather with no stress. Heat is one of the fastest ways to kill an amphibian next to drying out and I am certain the heat killed my newt. Next these newts are one of the larger newts reaching a max length of 8 inches, now the ones I got were about 6 inches so still way to big to be crammed together in a tiny deli cup my poor newt that lived was constantly being hit with the dead body of the other newt😳. After I sent them a very respectful email wanting a refund and wanting to give them advice on shipping these animals and they told me that I don’t know what I’m talking about and basically told me off. DONT BUY FROM THESE ANIMAL ABUSERS

I ordered a tarantula without previously checking if it’s legal in my state. I let them know the issue and that I’d like to be refunded. They emailed me within few hrs and issued the refund same day, the refund showed of my account within few hrs. Although, I didn’t actually buy anything from there, the costumer service is 5 stars, quick and efficient ! Thank you !
