Backwater ReptilesReviews of backwaterreptiles.com

I ordered 3 adult stage aquatic eastern newts and received animals that were literally freshly out of the larval juvenile aquatic stage newts. Not only were these newts not in the stage I ordered them but they were sickly and emaciated and all died within 3 days of arrival. I called and messaged back water and they were so rude and condescending and stated that their "fine print" says eastern newts medium size and has nothing to do with the associated picture of what you order. They have red efts for sale which is the intermediate stage of the salamander separate from the final aquatic adult stage making it appear you could order the animal at each life stage. These people are horrible, treat their customers like trash, and have no problem selling sick and starving animals.

I prchased a red eared slider turtle. It died shortly after recieving. I emailed sales and and back and forth emails with 4 different peopke. Sent pics of the turtle while it was alive and while dead. Turtle had an eye disease and would not eat. I purchased another turtle with a discount and same thing happened. I was out approximately $140 and alot of time. My opinion is that these turtle are sick, too young, and vulnerable to be sent across the united states. Stay away from buying turtles.

I ordered an Egyptian Uromastyx cb hatchling. He/she arrived alive and crawled right onto my hand from the box/tub. "Chompers" ate within minutes of being placed in his enclosure and has a great personality. It's been a few weeks and he loves to be hand fed flowers and treat veggies. He's a great pet now and I'm excited about him growing bigger in the future. He will always be one spoiled lizard.

They sent us a lethargic sick turtle. It died within a few days of arrival. Zero customer service. Awful company. They should not be working with animals.

THIS PLACE IS A SCAM THEY ABUSE THERE ANIMALS DONT BUY FROM THEM MAKE THEM GO OUT OF BUISNESS THOSE ANIMAL ABUSERS.

I purchased an adult male green iguana from this place and I cannot be any more upset and pissed off. The little guy came in the box without a heat pack. When I brought him inside he was insanely cold to the touch and wasn’t moving. I thought he was dead. I’ve had the little guy for a little over a month and he doesn’t eat on his own is losing weight and his spines are a constantly down. He doesn’t poop that often either.I’ve had to resort to force feeding him. I am going to be taking him to the vet as soon as possible. He came very skinny as well. I have him in a huge 6.5 foot tall cage by 7 foot long with all the correct heating and lighting fixtures. He also has the correct humidity levels. He has a couple large plants in there with him as well. And plenty of big and branches to climb on. I hope he pulls through. If I could rate this crap shoot 0 I would. Don’t ever buy from here unless you want to rescue a reptile from a terrible place

If I could give this company a zero I would. Went through Backwater Reptiles without having seen the most recent reviews. I ordered a pair (2) oak toads for $62. The site showed them as in stock. Shortly after paying, I was contacted by Brittney, their sales person. She stated that when they went to box them up, they realized that they had none. I thought this was odd, but okay. I asked her to replace them with Southern toads. Again, I was told there were none despite the 'in stock' message on the site. She then emailed me trying to get me to purchase marine toads, which were twice the price. I asked for a refund and she went completely silent for the rest of the day. Got an email the following day that stated they refunded my order. I asked the bank to keep an eye on it. Backwater Reptiles charged the card $62 regardless of the 'refund' and when I emailed Brittney just keeps responding "talk to your bank". I will never give this company my money again. This whole thing is one big scam. Spend the extra $20 for shipping on another reputable site.

Everything i have ordered has arrived alive and well!!! Thank you Bwr
