Hi Sway, We ask all of our renters to complete a quiz prior to matching them with properties so that we can provide the most thoughtful recommendations possible. We know it can be a bigger lift up front, but we believe it helps take a lot of the searching and scrolling out of the process- and we only use the data to find you a good match! Signing up also allows you to send your information to properties that you want to get in contact with. I hope this helps explain why we have that process, and we are happy to answer any other questions if you would like to email [email protected]. Warmly, Olivia

Hi Esthere, I'm so sorry you had this experience last year. Apartment List strives to find every renter a home they love. and we partner with data providers for smaller units across the country who share this value. Unfortunately, while we perform initial data validations, we rely on these partners to verify the credibility of their listings. If you ever encounter an issue like this in the future, please feel free to email [email protected] with the listings and we will investigate right away. Thank you again for taking the time to leave this feedback, my sincere apologies for this experience. Warmly, Olivia

Hi GK, I'm so sorry you had this experience with us last year. We take fraudulent listings very seriously at Apartment List which is why we partner directly with the majority of the properties we have listed on our platform. That said, we do partner with data providers for smaller units across the country. While we perform basic data validation for these properties, we rely on those partners to verify the credibility of their listings. We are constantly working on removing any scams that are reported, as well as finding proactive ways to combat this issue. We truly appreciate your feedback on this matter. Warmly, Olivia

Hi Michael, Thank you for your feedback! We take our renters through a quiz to understand their preferences before we match them with properties. While this takes more time on the front end, we think that it helps us provide you a better experience in the long run. That said, I will provide this feedback to our product team as we are always looking to improve the experience for all renters. Warmly, Olivia

Hi Hayley, I'm so sorry you had this experience last year. We never want you to feel surprised by contacts from properties. And I'm truly sorry you weren't able to delete your account promptly. We have improved our processes for both of these concerns, but I understand that doesn't help what you experienced last year so I wanted to reach out and say thank you for this feedback and I'm sorry this happened. Warmly, Olivia
