So I started out with Amerigas when we bought our home in Charlevoix in 2018; I encountered problems with them when, after a couple of years and my propane costs were nearly $3 gallon, called to inquire about getting a lower rate. Customer service kept me on hold for an inordinate amount of time [about twenty minutes] only to come back and tell me that they had neglected to invoice me for a fill two years prior, and than I needed to pay that bill [around $500] right away. Not encouraging.
As I found a much better rate with another company, I ended my service with Amerigas. They claimed ownership of of the tank that was built in 1986 and had been on the property since that time, and wanted to pick it up. After they did so I received a bill for $149.99. Lesson? They will stick it to you every way they possibly can.

Avoid at all cost!!!
Avoid at all cost!!!
Absolutely terrible customer service! Consistently horrible company in all aspects. Over a ten-month period, this despicable company failed to return messages, phone wait times were up to 1 1/2 hours to speak to a customer service representative. Price gouging…fuel rates were a dollar a gallon, or more, than local companies. Upon canceling my service, it took Amerigas three months to retrieve the tank. Upon cancellation, the tank was 60% full with an estimated $675.00 worth of fuel. Amerigas refused to refund the fuel cost claiming it is company policy for most states. However, they were quick to charge an additional $140.00 service fee to retrieve the tank. Amerigas is a company that performs below the standard while charging the maximum. Avoid at all cost!!!!

I would give a zero if I could.
I would give a zero if I could.. this place is HORRIBLE to do buisness with! Call for a delivery to my place of employment and they just simply do not come.. call 6 or 7 times.. they still don't come! But if you threaten to stop doing buisness THEN they show up.. I only work for my company.. they are lucky I dont own it because I would just cancel and go elsewhere.. now that I have looked up the reviews it all makes sense now! I can't even believe these people are allowed to even be in buisness!

Just got charged $229.00 for a refill…
Just got charged $229.00 for a refill on my tank from Amerigas and they never filled it! I called toward the end of March to request a refill and they claim to have refilled my 120 gallon tank on April 7th. I waited patiently until finally calling today to let them know they must have forgotten me. The lady I spoke to just kept saying that their records showed it was filled on April 7th, and I kept telling her that her records were wrong. Then, magically while I was asking to speak to a manager, she all of a sudden could not hear me. She played the "Are you there, are you there?", then hung up on me. There are two reasons I know they didn't service my tank; First is the gauge, it is showing 25% and has for the last 3 months. Second is the fact that there is a Dove that is nesting on top of the tank under the lid. This is the third Dove in the last 3 months that has nested here and I have been keeping an eye on her. The first two had their chicks and they left, a week later another Dove was roosting there with two new eggs. She is still there sitting on those eggs. Lastly, I normally get a receipt of the service and I never got one. These folks are crooks and their customer service is worse than any company I've experienced in quite some time. I am not doing business with this company every again and suggest you avoid the nightmare and find another provider.

Unsatisfactory
I paid and placed my order 5/8, having been instructed to wait until the tank was at 10%. I was then told the delivery window was 10 days, and would be delivered by 5/17. I called the morning of the 18th, and was told I would be put on 24 hour emergency status, that was 48 hours ago. I have other things to do, and this is unsatisfactory! I will probably be out by the time they decide to show up. I have disabled individuals in the home, I'd hate to depend on this company in a real emergency.

YOU will pay THEM for mistakes!
I ordered 225 gallons of gas (only ordered that much to get us through the winter since gas is expensive) in the beginning of February. The snow storm hit and they never delivered, which is understandable. I called to see what date the delivery was rescheduled for. They cancelled, but did not reschedule. I told the male on the phone that I wanted the original order of 225 gallons and he rescheduled it. They delivered the next week and filled the tank and then billed me almost 1900 dollars. I called the company and a female told me the box was checked by the male I spoke too last week and he should have unchecked it to revert back to the original order of 225 gallons. She stated for me to pay the amount due for the 225 gallons so it showed I paid and then the rest would be credited and she would send the information to her supervisor. Two weeks later, the bill is still showing a total fill. I called back and spoke to a female. She transferred me to manager, Gina. She stated it was their mistake and the credit to my account was approved, but it was an IT issue that it wasn’t showing up on my account. She would fix it over the weekend and would show on my account by Monday. Monday, still no fix. I called back and spoke with a male and was again transferred to a manager, Michael, who told me again that it was their mistake and it would be fixed. It wasn’t. I called again and the male told me he would approve the credit (even though it was out of his scope and his supervisor would contact him and he would explain the situation). Nope. I was called today and told my account was overdue with late fees and if I didn’t pay, they would send me to collections! I spoke with manager, Amy, who told me every single person I previously spoke to didn’t tell me the truth. Four people, including two managers didn’t know the truth?! I had two options A) pay for THEM to come pump out the extra gas or B) pay for the extra gas at a discounted rate (which is the same rate in the off season so nothing special). So the customer has to pay THEM no matter what when it was their mistake?! I explained that this was completely unfair and she said I had to pay to matter what. I asked when it was due and she stated immediately. Immediately?! This is completely ridiculous. Not every person has that kind of money sitting around for a total fill of propane. Some people budget money to fill up at certain times, which is why I originally ordered 225 gallons. You are a company that values customer service and employee performance. I was told four times that it was a mistake on your end, but in the end, I have to pay for YOUR mistake. I will not be using this company in the future. Please think twice before contacting them for gas. If they make a mistake, YOU will pay for it!
