The Machu Picchu and Galapagos Islands Alexander + Roberts tour was our first small group travel experience. It cost more than twice as much as some of our other travel experiences. We have found that the price difference is worth it! We would consider another Alexander + Roberts tour. Touring the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu and the distant and diverse islands of the Galapagos is a bit off the beaten travel path and, in our minds, requires different ways and means to do correctly. A+R provided beautiful, luxurious, delicious, and convenient lodging and restaurant accommodations. The flexibility of traveling with a small group (ours was just six in number) with a knowledgeable local tour guide, was a unique and treasured experience. This itinerary provided a retired history/geography teacher the trip of a lifetime to sites most people only experience through a textbook or coffee table book. And to top it all off, I stood on the Equator!

First, I want to compliment Susan Braun for doing an excellent job in setting up the trip. I know it was somewhat complicated to set up flights, the guides in Helsinki and the tours we wanted in Northern Finland etc. I would suggest you find a different airport than CDG in Paris to transfer planes. CDG was a loser-scattered all over hells half acre, totally disorganized. We had to go thru security twice, run a couple of miles, ride two buses etc. Without the help of a young lady volunteer we would never made our connection. Luggage was not transferred and we got it only after being in Helsinki 2 days. The resort was good. Vans that got us to meals, tours, land back to our cabin were always prompt. I liked the trip but would not do it again. I should have been 20 years younger. Picture an 83 year old man trying to run and push a sled up slopes in minus 40 degrees when the Huskies could not do the job unaided.

I had always wanted to visit Greece but not on a cruise ship. I was introduced to Alexander and Roberts' land trip and had the experience of a lifetime. There were only eleven of us in the group and we were like family after the first day. Much of the credit for this wonderful trip goes to our tour guide. She was professional, warm and friendly, and fun. And, she was a PhD Archaeologist who actually helped excavate one of the sites we visited. We toured the "normal" sites like the Acropolis and Delphi but spent most of our time in places where tourists don't flock. Never saw a cruise ship even when we went to the islands of Skopelos and Skiathos. We truly got to hang out with the locals. My recommendation for anyone wanting to see Greece is to take a land trip not a cruise trip. Also, be aware that it is a very physical experience since there are steep hills and cobblestone steps everywhere but very few handrails. That being said I would go back on the same trip in a heart beat. Best vacation to date!

Our experience in Egypt with Alexander and Roberts was phenomenal! We felt extremely safe and cared for throughout the trip. Everything was incredibly well-organized, and the quality of the amenities, tours, and accommodations was fantastic. The egyptologists were incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and caring. We had a wonderful time and would recommend the trip to anyone.

In November 2019 I spent 10 days with Alexander and Roberts in Peru. I would do it again in a heartbeat. From the preparatory materials I received to the last good-bye, Alexander and Roberts thought of everything. I felt more educated by this trip than by any previous trip I have ever taken with any travel company. The guides were personable and well-informed. They responded quickly to every request (i.e., provided maps), and they kept me hydrated when I might have forgotten to hydrate for better tolerance of the unfamiliar elevations. I admit that I eavesdropped on other (non-Alexander and Roberts) tour guides at Machu Picchu. Without a doubt, our tour guides were better informed and more understandable (in English) than any others I heard. My tour group had a chance to see local home industries and agricultural practices, taste local foods, and meet local people. The pace was comfortable. Our hotels were classy and the hotel staff accommodating. My hotel room in the Sacred Valley reminded me of Shangri-la: it looked out on a little flower- and willow-bordered pond with a soft landscape lighting and a graceful footbridge. I was delighted with everything. I will definitely take Alexander and Roberts tours in the future.

Great experience. Everything we wanted and more. Made our trip effortless and enjoyable. We were a party of 8 that included children and grandparents and everyone had a great time
