Best possible art lovers trip.
This was a wonderful trip. Designed as a small group event, it turned out that my wife and I were the only ones so it was a private guided trip. The drivers were wonderful. The hotels were beautiful and the desk staff was ever so helpful. The guides were terrific. In the Vatican Museum, Dario was incredible. We had already been to the Vatican Museum three times before and so on the way we asked Dario to spend our time in the picture gallery as this is not usually covered very well. Dario never missed a beat. Over an hour and a half talking about the pictures. Just fabulous. In Venice, Rita took us for a walk. We wanted to go to the Frari but it was closed so she took us to her own neighborhood church where we saw paintings dating back to the early 1,300's. This is not our first Alexander & Roberts travel event and we would not hesitate to use A&R again. So much art in so many museums and churches. The only hitch was the guided tour in Florence which was a train wreck almost from the day we signed up for this tour. We ended up without a guide and saw the Uffizi on our own. Debbie Bates said she would call us about this but she has not had time so far. Still, a wonderful trip that we will always look back on with much joy. [You can leave this part out if you want to only use the first part.]
