Sure you can have unlimited messaging with staff, what they don't say it takes at minimum 3 days for a response back.
They had my first meeting scheduled with a nutritionist, not a PA, not a Dr a nutritionist. Huh?? So I said something and they ended up changing the visit to be with a PA. Cool.
We agreed on a new medication and I asked how long before I get the prescription, I was told as soon as I send over a Pic of my current prescription and my weight. Cool, send in both those things immediately after we end the call, annnd it takes 6 days before the prescription is sent in.
At the same time I get a msg saying that a prior authorization will be sent in as well but it'll take 2-5 days (or possibly longer) to be accepted. It's now been 6 days and the prior authorization hasn't even been submitted according to my insurance.
You CANNOT have a lapse between doses for glp1s so you would think they would have a sense of urgency to get these medications filled and yet here I am still waiting almost a full month later!
It feels like a big waste of time and money tbh. My insurance urged me to sign up with them but it is not required thankfully so I no longer need to deal with this annoying company.

Standardized model may not fit individualized care needs
This program requires completion of 12 short, basic weekly educational modules before certain treatment options are considered. The content is not adjusted based on prior knowledge, medical history, or physician recommendations.
In my case, the team was willing to discuss oral medications (which are lower cost), although I have been taking those for some time. I was told GLP-1 medications would not be discussed until I completed the 12 weekly modules. Despite providing detailed information and having my primary care physician recommend GLP-1 treatment, there was no flexibility.
While step-based approaches are common, this process felt more administrative than patient-centered. If you are seeking personalized care, this may not meet expectations. For employers evaluating this service, it’s important to understand that the model appears fixed and standardized rather than tailored to individual medical circumstances.

Hi there,
Thank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback — we understand how the structure of the program can feel rigid, especially when you come in with prior experience or a physician recommendation.
While the program includes a structured lifestyle curriculum, members always have access to schedule live visits with registered dietitians and ongoing health coaching sessions. Much of the personalization happens within those conversations, where care plans can be tailored to individual goals, history, and challenges.
There are also situations where members may begin GLP-1 treatment sooner than the full 12-week program; however, those exceptions are based on specific clinical criteria and are determined by the clinical and prescribing teams to ensure safe, appropriate care.
Our goal is to combine evidence-based lifestyle support with medical oversight to help members achieve sustainable outcomes, and we truly appreciate feedback that helps us continue improving the experience.
We encourage you to reach out through your app, and we would be happy to book a visit for you!

Unexpected perfection.
One of the people I met, her name is Constantine or something like it, was awful and kept telling me how I felt. She didn’t listen to me and she made me feel like she did not like her job whatsoever. After I changed from her to someone else my experience amazing. Which is why I give it all the stars. I didn’t let that one awful experience ruin my whole outlook. Thank you to everyone on this team who has been so helpful.

Difficult Start and Limited Direct Communication
I am currently required by my insurance to use 9AM Health in order to receive coverage for my medication. I was not aware of this requirement until I arrived at the pharmacy and was told my prescription would cost over $1,200 because it now required a prior authorization that had not been approved. That experience was extremely upsetting and felt blindsiding.
I immediately contacted my provider’s office and was able to speak with staff. The next day, my provider personally called me and explained that this was a new insurance mandate — one that even her insurance was now mandating. After speaking with my insurance company, I was directed to enroll with 9AM Health.
I want to be transparent: I am a registered nurse and currently studying to become an advanced practice nurse. Patient care, quality of care, and holistic care matter deeply to me. I choose my providers carefully and tend to build strong relationships with them. Being able to see my primary care provider in person — to have my blood pressure checked, be weighed, assessed, and have meaningful face-to-face conversation — is important to me.
My biggest frustration has been the onboarding process and communication model. After enrolling, I was unable to speak directly with anyone. I called and left a voicemail over two weeks ago and still have not received a return call. My prescription has now been sent to the pharmacy, and I am starting a higher-dose injectable medication, yet I have not spoken directly to a provider. Communication appears to be heavily app-based and chat-driven.
I prefer real-time interaction — phone or video — especially when it comes to medical care. Messaging back and forth in an app does not feel personal or reassuring, and it has been impossible to reach someone by phone.
I value strong provider relationships and continuity of care, and this model initially feels impersonal and disconnected compared to working with my primary care provider.
That said, I do have a scheduled appointment with a dietitian next week and a coaching session the week after. I have received the scale they provide, and I do appreciate that the weight syncs directly to the app. I have questions about it, but I am hesitant to call again due to the lack of response, I don't want to get myself frustrated. I just plan to address those questions during my upcoming visit.
I can see the potential for this program to be beneficial. However, as someone in healthcare, I am also aware that insurance companies often shift care models in the name of cost containment, presenting it as improved care while reducing expenses. Nonetheless, I am willing to give this program a fair opportunity.
For now, my two-star rating reflects a frustrating onboarding experience and significant communication barriers — not necessarily the full potential of the program. If my experience improves over the next few months, or even weeks, I will gladly return to update this review and adjust my rating accordingly.

Hi there,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such detailed and thoughtful feedback — we truly appreciate it, and we’re grateful you’re giving us the opportunity to support your care.
We’d really like to review your onboarding experience specifically so we can learn from it and continue improving. Please reach out to us through the app and share your concerns there so we can locate your profile and take a closer look at what occurred during your onboarding.
We also want to acknowledge your feedback about communication. Improving response times is a top priority for us right now, and we are actively working to make access and follow-up faster and more consistent.
We’re glad to see you’ve scheduled an onboarding visit — that is absolutely the right step and often the best way to get multiple questions answered at once and establish a strong connection with your care team. Our clinicians, dietitians, and coaches are highly experienced in obesity medicine and whole-person care, and building that relationship is a key part of how the program becomes more personalized over time.
Thank you again for your honesty, your perspective as a healthcare professional, and for giving 9amHealth a chance. We look forward to supporting you and continuing to improve your experience.
