This service is difficult to deal with it best as they want you to speak with an AI assistant, whose results are questionable and best even when asking to get a case escalated.
I have also found that when calling into the 800 number and speaking with someone it seems that there is confusion about previous conversations and we can’t seem to get things handled efficiently.
For me, it would be better just to deal with my general practitioner for the medication as he knows my health better than they do.

Amazon Employee 9am Health not providing support
My company Amazon uses 9am Health and 9am Health won't return any of my emails requesting info for the criteria for therapy and I've been disconnected a couple times and that being said the persons I got through to just knew how to read a script and tried to have me get the info from 9am Health from Amazon and or my Blue Cross insurance who instructed me to contact 9am health. The time I have already spent trying to makes trying to use 9am health to expensive to use even through my insurance I work 40 hours a week at Amazon and I've already spent 4 hours this week trying to ask 9am Health for criteria info and have gotten no where at all.

We have a doctor and an insurance…
We have a doctor and an insurance company. These should be enough to take care of us. 9am health is an addition that just makes things more complicated for the patient.

I have been with your team for a few…
I have been with your team for a few years.
Recently, I have experienced delays in message responses, requesting sensors for CGM monitoring.
I have gone back and forth since 2/8/26 and seems like my case is handled like a hot potato .
So very unfortunate.
Seems like the liaisons are the weakest link .
As a physician, I could never get away with not responding to my patients in a timely manner.. if you can’t handle my simple case, ( I am loyal, compliant and provide you updates ),this is a sad situation.
Please do everything to insure a more efficient response to important messages.
Maybe calling you directly score reliable way to communicate.
Still waiting for approval of sensors (prior authorization)
Why pay for services if failed communication .. this can only be harmful for the patient with diabetes

Difficult Start and Limited Direct Communication
I am currently required by my insurance to use 9AM Health in order to receive coverage for my medication. I was not aware of this requirement until I arrived at the pharmacy and was told my prescription would cost over $1,200 because it now required a prior authorization that had not been approved. That experience was extremely upsetting and felt blindsiding.
I immediately contacted my provider’s office and was able to speak with staff. The next day, my provider personally called me and explained that this was a new insurance mandate — one that even her insurance was now mandating. After speaking with my insurance company, I was directed to enroll with 9AM Health.
I want to be transparent: I am a registered nurse and currently studying to become an advanced practice nurse. Patient care, quality of care, and holistic care matter deeply to me. I choose my providers carefully and tend to build strong relationships with them. Being able to see my primary care provider in person — to have my blood pressure checked, be weighed, assessed, and have meaningful face-to-face conversation — is important to me.
My biggest frustration has been the onboarding process and communication model. After enrolling, I was unable to speak directly with anyone. I called and left a voicemail over two weeks ago and still have not received a return call. My prescription has now been sent to the pharmacy, and I am starting a higher-dose injectable medication, yet I have not spoken directly to a provider. Communication appears to be heavily app-based and chat-driven.
I prefer real-time interaction — phone or video — especially when it comes to medical care. Messaging back and forth in an app does not feel personal or reassuring, and it has been impossible to reach someone by phone.
I value strong provider relationships and continuity of care, and this model initially feels impersonal and disconnected compared to working with my primary care provider.
That said, I do have a scheduled appointment with a dietitian next week and a coaching session the week after. I have received the scale they provide, and I do appreciate that the weight syncs directly to the app. I have questions about it, but I am hesitant to call again due to the lack of response, I don't want to get myself frustrated. I just plan to address those questions during my upcoming visit.
I can see the potential for this program to be beneficial. However, as someone in healthcare, I am also aware that insurance companies often shift care models in the name of cost containment, presenting it as improved care while reducing expenses. Nonetheless, I am willing to give this program a fair opportunity.
For now, my two-star rating reflects a frustrating onboarding experience and significant communication barriers — not necessarily the full potential of the program. If my experience improves over the next few months, or even weeks, I will gladly return to update this review and adjust my rating accordingly.

Hi there,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such detailed and thoughtful feedback — we truly appreciate it, and we’re grateful you’re giving us the opportunity to support your care.
We’d really like to review your onboarding experience specifically so we can learn from it and continue improving. Please reach out to us through the app and share your concerns there so we can locate your profile and take a closer look at what occurred during your onboarding.
We also want to acknowledge your feedback about communication. Improving response times is a top priority for us right now, and we are actively working to make access and follow-up faster and more consistent.
We’re glad to see you’ve scheduled an onboarding visit — that is absolutely the right step and often the best way to get multiple questions answered at once and establish a strong connection with your care team. Our clinicians, dietitians, and coaches are highly experienced in obesity medicine and whole-person care, and building that relationship is a key part of how the program becomes more personalized over time.
Thank you again for your honesty, your perspective as a healthcare professional, and for giving 9amHealth a chance. We look forward to supporting you and continuing to improve your experience.

9AM Hurdles
I have been jumping through the hops for a week now and even though my endocrinologist prescribed my medication i have to jump through their 12 week lifestyle bs to be considerd for medication. The customer service is horrible and everything has to be done through their app. It takes 2 days for them to even respond. Good luck even getting a call back from them. Because they cant answer the phone they just make you leave a message. Horrible experience with them so far!
Response from 9amHealthFeb 20, 2026
Hi there,
We hear your frustration, and we’re sorry this process has felt so difficult.
When someone enrolls with us, we are required to complete our own clinical evaluation before we can prescribe or continue treatment—even if another provider has already written the medication. GLP-1s are powerful medications, and our care model is built around pairing them with structured lifestyle support and close medical monitoring to drive safer, more sustainable outcomes. The program component is meant to strengthen results, not delay care.
As a virtual clinic, communication is centralized through the app so conversations are documented and coordinated across your care team. We know delayed replies and missed calls are frustrating, and improving response times remains a priority for us.
We appreciate you sharing your experience and the chance to do better.

Hugely instrusive
Hugely instrusive: one is asked to do all sorts of things which, at least in my case, the doctor is already doing or monitoring. I am bombarded with text messages, many of which are "motivational" and have nothing to do with basic health care requirements. Registering on the app and website was in each case a nightmare. A cardinal case of an insurance company coming between the patient and the care they need.

Hi Jeffrey,
Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective, and we are sorry it has not been a smooth experience so far.
We understand the importance of clearly distinguishing what is required versus what is optional, particularly for members who already have an established provider managing their care. Our goal is to support access to covered benefits while meeting insurer requirements, and clarity in how information and next steps are presented is essential to that experience.
We also want to thank you for taking the time to speak with a manager and for sharing the thoughtful, detailed feedback you provided during that conversation. Hearing directly from members helps us better understand how our experience is landing in real-world use, and we value the opportunity to listen.
Your feedback has been shared with our product and experience teams as we continue refining how onboarding, tasks, and communications are presented — with a focus on transparency, simplicity, and clearly communicating what is optional, what is required, and what is included at no cost as part of a covered benefit.
We’re committed to listening to our members and continuously improving the product and experience. If you have additional feedback or would like further support, our team is always available to help.

Overall I dont recommend 9am health.
Overall I don't recommend 9am health.
It has taken over a month of communication back and forth with just a PharmD and I have yet to speak to a doctor. Very unhelpful on the phone as well. Condescending and no answers. They literally said to me "I mean I guess I can just ask a Doctor if you want." Why am I speaking with a PharmD and not a PA or nurse at least?
I think they must drag it out so much to get money from my insurance or something. Disappointed.
Edited to remove "student" from PharmD:
Some reasons I assumed student were because
"I don't know how medications react."
"I mean, I guess I can just ask a Doctor if you want."
And PharmD keeps calling the nurse at my PCP a "receptionist"

Hi there, we are so sorry to hear this was your experience. We would be happy to discuss your concerns over the phone so we can discuss them in more detail. Please call us at (202) 932-9958 and ask for me, Sophie, Head of Patient Advocacy.
Regarding your concerns about speaking with students, we do not employ students at all. Each pharmacist on our staff is a PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) and has been trained specifically in the conditions we treat and medications we prescribe.
In addition to our pharmacy team, we have physicians on staff, including Obesity Medicine Specialists and Endocrinologists, who are available to our members as part of their program.
We never intend to drag anything out, and we can guarantee that doing this would not benefit us.
Again, we would be more than happy to discuss these issues in detail and see if we can reach a resolution. We are here for you and are committed to resolving any and all issues you have encountered.
Best,
Sophie
