I want to share my recent awful experience…
I want to share my recent awful experience with Wyndham at one of their Hawaiian resorts to warn others about their shady “owner’s update” meetings. I was forced into attending an owner's update meeting under the threat of losing my timeshare with Shell Vacations, which had been taken over by Wyndham. The guy in charge, Mr. White, gave me a false choice: either switch to Wyndham or risk losing my investment. Mr. White first offered an outrageously high price for an upgrade, which I turned down. To seal the deal, he lowered the price, threw in some free weeks, and assured me that the maintenance fees would be low. He even mentioned a program where I could rent out my timeshare to cover these costs. Skeptical, I said no and walked away, but the pressure didn't stop. He came back with a cynical attitude, using my friends purchases against me. Feeling manipulated and fearing the loss of my Shell investment, I reluctantly agreed to the smallest points package. The closing process was rushed, leaving no time for questions or a proper review of the contract. I wasn't told about a rescission period, and the high interest rate of almost 16% was never mentioned. Since the purchase, I've found out that I was deceived on multiple fronts. The promised program to rent out my timeshare for maintenance fee coverage was a lie. I felt stuck, like I'd made a deal with the mob, with Wyndham forcing me to keep paying. Trying to sort things out with Wyndham was useless. They showed no compassion or willingness to fix the situation. It's disheartening to see a company resort to such tactics. I urge anyone thinking about Wyndham to be extremely cautious. This experience has left me regretful, and I hope others can learn from my mistake.
