Our adjustable rings are crafted from genuine 925 sterling silver, which is intentionally softer so they can be adjusted comfortably. The rose gold finish is a plating, and while it's made to last with proper care, it can gradually wear over time depending on exposure to water, lotions, perfumes, and daily wear. We're saddened to hear that part of your ring snapped, as that's certainly not the experience we want anyone to have. I just wanted to gently clarify that the ring you purchased was our Remnant Ring, which is listed in the materials section as being crafted from silver plated copper with a smooth, polished finish. It isn’t described as 100% sterling silver. With plated pieces, over time and depending on exposure to things like water, lotions, or skin chemistry, discoloration can sometimes occur, including the slight color change or marks you mentioned.
