Disagreeable experience at Whole Foods
We shopped yesterday at Whole Foods on 104th Street in Miami. 1. Whole Foods still has an announced policy of not bagging groceries. Since it has been determined that Covid spreads almost exclusively through the air, it is my guess that the policy is maintained so that Whole Foods has an excuse for not providing grocery bagging service. 2. It used to be Whole Foods policy, when you had a shaky carton of eggs, to supply a rubber band to keep it closed. This was a convenient amenity. However, I was informed yesterday that Whole Foods no longer supplied rubber bands. Another money-saver for Jeff Bezos. 3. Despite the formal policy against bagging, I forgot about it yesterday and waited while the cashier bagged our groceries. Which was nice of her, except that she was visibly unhappy and loaded up the bags in such a way that one of them weighed 18 pounds and one weighed almost 20. All in all, a disagreeable experience. The great draw of Whole Foods is the variety of organic vegetables. However, the experience was enough to get me to think again about whether it is all that important that our vegetables be organic.
