Unstable VPN, nickel-and-dimed for features
The VPN is very unstable. You can count on it failing every 20-30 minutes. They have an "internet kill switch" option that shuts off your internet when this happens, which means you won't be browsing without a VPN without knowing it if you turn that on, but it also means you can't do anything that requires a stable connection. When the VPN fails it will say "connected" but the UI will appear as if it's disconnected, if you "disconnect" in this state, it will reconnect (and tell you that it's disconnected) or it will simply never reconnect and you'll have to kill the program. If you have to kill the program, it often messes with your internet settings, and you'll have to go though troubleshooting steps to fix it. Many (MANY) features that are free with other VPNs are paid add-ons for Virtual Shield. Want to see American Netflix? Sorry, that's an add-on. Want customer support? Sorry, that's an add-on. There are several options when it comes to buying a VPN. Virtual shield is a fine while it works, and it often doesn't. It isn't cheap enough to justify its terrible stability and lack of features.
