They informed me that I needed my wiper blades changed. The attendant said $24.99 for premium blades, only to find out that was the price of each blade. She said she told me that , which she did not. Pulled out after the oil change into a very busy highway, sprayed my windshield and was completely blinded when I used my wipers. I was horrified and there was nothing I could do. Had to get around busy intersections to get back there to find out what had happened. Attendants had forgotten to take off the covering on the blades. Fortunately, I didn’t get into a serious car accident, but I was really shook up, besides paying $50.00 for a set of blades. I’m a widow on fixed income and they should be more specific concerning their pricing.

No way they changed anything but the oil filter (sludge after 200 miles)
No way they changed the oil. I served in a navy engine room for five years as a machinist mate and know by the sound (and maintenance minder) when my car needs an oil change. After Valvoline Instant's oil change, the engine sound didn't change as it should with clean oil. I changed the oil myself to find their oil is like sludge after 200 miles (I have pictures and samples for comparison with new oil). They changed the filter but I can't believe they changed the oil. Never had an issue like this changing my own oli. Something is wrong and I don't trust this business for such a vital component of my car.

Sat in line for 40 minutes waiting to…
Sat in line for 40 minutes waiting to be next. When I got in place, I was informed they were out of synthetic oil! Their air compressor equipment was also faulty and they seemed frustrated with a previous customer. My neighbor had a bad experience at this facility 5 months ago when they failed to properly tighten the oil filter. Almost ruined his 2019 Chevy truck. Porrly run place. I won't return.

Stellar customer service; expertly performed maintenance
Stellar customer service, expertly performed maintenance (like oil changes, and stuff); and a quality experience is their obvious goal. Tim was our point of contact this time. He and his team did a courtesy check of lights, filters and stuff, and offered service if needed. Of course the consumer can decline offers. No complaints. We have to schedule a roadtrip to use Valvoline, but will do so again and again. Most appreciative.

Pathetic at best
Pathetic at best! Just got my oil changed at the Rt 6 location in Portage Indiana. They did not check my battery, transmission fluid, brake fluid, steering fluid, air filter, coolant, or go through the reset procedure for the oil light. I called him out on it and he could care less. Receipt shows he did all these things and he did nothing. I asked him and I ask you, what am I paying for??? This is the 3rd location in the past year that I have received poor service or theft. Never again!

Awful customer service!
UPDATE: Still waiting to hear from the area manager, that I was told would contact me within 48 hrs. Look at and read reviews before you use this company. 2.6 overall rating. They will damage your vehicle and promise to take care of the issue then not have the common decency or professionalism to handle the issue.
They changed my oil in June, went in for oil change and was told that the oil drain plug was stripped. They ordered one from O'Reilly auto parts which would be delivered by 3pm. Did not go back until next morning. They then stated it would be delivered at 11am. I called at 11 and was put on hold. Then hung up on. Tried to call back no answer. Called O'Reilly to check on part to be told it was delivered the day before. Amazingly awful customer service!! Damaged vehicle refused to pay for repairs
Valvoline damaged a tire stud while doing a tire rotation. They admitted damage and said they would make the repair. I requested they perform the repair at my local dealership. After negations and escalating the claim to the area manager, it was approved to be repaired at the dealership. I made the first appointment available after being told the repair was approved. I was told they would pay for it over the phone with a credit card and to complete the repair by customer service. I requested a confirmation email and they said it was not needed and everything was recorded. Upon picking up my vehicle, the claim was denied. No one reached out to tell me the claim was denied. The customer service agent stated the exact same thing. They denied the payment without notifying the owners. We requested a copy of the recorded audios stating it was approved and Valvoline says we can only obtain them through a subpoena and legal action. The Valvoline customer service line even suggested we take legal action to have the repair paid for. This is absolutely unacceptable customer service.

Vehicle Inspector Shortage in My Area
Unadvertised shortage of inspectors in Rochester, NY.
Only two locations offering State Inspection as of 11/5/2022 - 2472 Monroe Ave Brighton, NY 14618 and 654 East Ridge Road, Irondequoit, NY 14621.
I arrived at my local Valvoline 30 mins. before opening - waited to have my car serviced. Pull through the garage and was informed that this location wasn't doing vehicle inspections and that only two locations were doing inspections in the Rochester, NY area. Note: this has not been the case in years past.
I hurry over to the closest of the two, pull up to the location, and speak with one of the employees. Very straightforward, he informs me that it would be a 4-hour wait in order to get an inspection...
I half expected this to be the case - arriving 12 minutes after opening to one of two locations in my city providing inspections. Nonetheless, I was still taken aback by the inability of Valvoline to provide such a fundamental service.
This review isn't so much about the service I received (or lack thereof, however, the two employees I spoke with were apologetic and willing to explain the situation), but more so an inditement on the company itself for lack of information and failing to provide for perhaps the highest-demand vehicle service.
To have 9 locations in the Rochester, NY area and only provide state inspection services at two locations is not good, nor convenient service. To not warn potential customers on your website of said shortage, while not necessarily false marketing, is nonetheless unfortunate as uninformed people would just assume the service would be provided. To have to drive to a location and speak with an employee just trying to do their job in order to get an explanation for a service you lack is a bad experience.
While I understand not advertising the shortage of inspectors for fear of losing service, ultimately, you end up driving away potential customers like myself due to this type of inconvenience.
I propose Valvoline addresses this shortage by (a) adding a banner to the front page of the Valvoline website acknowledging potential shortages, (b) on locations pages, noting if a location provides inspection services or not, (c) providing locations that don't offer inspections proper signage to acknowledge that they don't provide inspections to people arriving to the location assuming they could be serviced (this would prevent people from having to wait to speak with an employee, only to be informed of the shortage of inspectors), or (d) hire/train more inspectors to meet the demand for a highly sought-after service.
Having received services from Valvoline on several occasions, I understand the convenience of having multiple locations capable of providing automotive preventive maintenance services in my area. However, having experienced issues the last three years when attempting to get my vehicle inspected, something needs to change in order to address this failure on behalf of this brand's management, marketing, employee training, website team... whoever's responsible for any of the items noted above to address this issue.
