On July 31, 2026, I went to my local Walmart in Mount Prospect to replace my mother's broken I-Phone 12. The sales clerk offered me a free I-Phone 16 if I would switch my mother's carrier from AT&T to Verizon. She would only have to pay a one-time sales tax of $72.90 and $45.00 per month for the phone service. So I accepted the offer, took the phone home to my mother, and she was delighted. However, we were shocked to later receive a monthly bill from Verizon for $72.61, not the $45.00 that we were promised. The correspondence from Verizon further stated that my mother would have to pay $72.61 per month for three years, meaning that the "free" phone she was given would actually cost her $801.61. I called Verizon today and was told that Walmart "misled" us and that there was nothing they could do about it. I also called Walmart in Mount Prospect and was told that phone sales are conducted by a separate company, which she would not name, and that Walmart is not responsible for fraud that is perpetrated in their stores. My mother is 92, suffers from heart failure, and relies on a small Social Security benefit to support herself. She does not deserve to be taken advantage of by Verizon. I am filing fraud claims against both companies with the Illinois Attorney General's Office. Moreover, I am writing about this crime on all of my news and social media sites so that other senior citizens are not robbed by Verizon.

Hours on the phone, no solution
I spent hours on the phone with no solution. They advertise benefits like $400 Samsung credits, but then have no way to redeem them and you'll spend hours on the phone/in online support trying to get it to work. It's straight up fraud.

Verison Refused Service and Threatened With Police in Front of My Children
Verizon Store
1844 Boulderstone Way, Cary, NC 27519
Extremely disappointing and upsetting experience at this Verizon store.
We visited only after spending nearly two weeks with Verizon customer care and technical support trying to activate a Gizmo Watch. Verizon had already made multiple unsuccessful activation attempts, repeatedly told us to wait 4–24 hours, and one representative later discovered that an earlier agent had entered incorrect porting information. Customer service ultimately discussed an alternative Apple Watch solution and directed us to visit the store.
I came with my children expecting the issue to finally be resolved. When the store manager wanted to repeat the same Gizmo activation process that Verizon had already attempted many times, I respectfully explained the history and asked that we not waste more time repeating an approach that had consistently failed.
Instead of helping, Isaiah Loewinsohn told me he was refusing service, repeatedly directed me to leave the store, and threatened to call the police if I did not leave.
This happened in front of my children and other customers.
My younger child came home crying and asking whether I would be arrested and taken away. He had difficulty sleeping that night.
What makes this particularly frustrating is that another Verizon corporate store subsequently resolved the issue successfully.
Technical problems can happen, but professionalism, patience, and respectful treatment should never be optional.
I have formally escalated this incident to Verizon and requested an investigation. I hope Verizon management reviews what happened at 1844 Boulderstone Way, Cary, NC 27519 and takes appropriate corrective action so another family does not have a similar experience.

Awful customer service
I spent 3 hours on a chat trying to correct a mistake Verizon made. After being transferred back and forth multiple times, I finally felt like we were getting somewhere and were about to complete the process when the agent went radio silent. I held on for over an hour waiting for their return to no avail. So now I’m back to square one and dont have another four hours to spend reinventing the wheel. Unfortunately, this has been my experience every time I have to call.

Beyond Frustrated
On July 23rd, 2 gentlemen dug up my yard without permission and cut the line for my underground dog fence. They called their boss, Kevin whose response was "Oh shit!" Kevin gave me his name and number to contact if they did not properly repair the line. I had to have the dog fence company come out July 27th to properly repair the damaged wire. I paid $150 for the repair and have pictures to show the damage and improper repair. July 28th, I emailed the invoice and pictures to Kevin. July 30th, I called Kevin to find out the status of my claim. July 31st, he informed me that I would be receiving a check to reimburse the cost. Aug 8th and 10th I left text messages for Kevin about the status of the check. As of today, August 12th I still have not received a check. I spoke to Kevin again today after several voicemails and text messages and was told I should reach out to Verizon claims.
August 12th I reached out to Verizon directly and was told I would be contacted by an area foreman within 48 hours. August 15th I still have no response.

VERIZON IS OUT TO SCAM YOU
I have had Verizon cell seven since 2003 when I got my first cell phone. I have not previously had any issues with Verizon, but now I am convinced VERIZON IS OUT TO SCAM YOU.
Two verizon sale agents visited my business in May. They convinced me to sign up for Verizon Business 5g internet, and while I’m at it, might as well get a second one for home. I was told it would be $39/month for my business and $55/month at home.
I did agree, but I was skeptical. I created my business account through the app a few days later, logged in, and found I was going to be charged $90/month for EACH service. After calling and being tossed around to different people, I finally found someone to ask about the discrepancy. I was told they weren’t sure why I was told they would be $39 and $55/month because they were most definitely $90/month each.
After only using the service 2-3 days, I requested immediate cancellation. The Verizon agent successfully cancelled the service, and at the end of the call stated “ok cancellation of both home and work is successful, and you owe nothing more on the account.”
I asked, “what do I do with the devices?” The agent said “Uhhhh……” and didn’t immediately provide an answer. I suggested I could drop them off at a Verizon store, and the agent said sure, you could do that.
I was super busy and didn’t do that right away, and then I got emails saying I owed $805 for the devices. So I went to the Verizon store to return them, and they said I couldn’t return them because the account had been canceled!
It turns out, what SHOULD have happened is that before the agent on the phone canceled the service, they should have initiated a return of the devices, with the service being cancelled upon receipt of the returned devices. What happened instead is that the account was shut down, and there was no longer an account under which the devices could be returned to. I spent FOUR AND A HALF HOURS on the phone with various agents while at the store and NO ONE even attempted to get to the bottom of the problem. The last person I talked to literally just kept repeating over and over to me “I understand that you were not properly instructed on how to return the devices, but that does not change the fact that our policy is to charge you for the devices if they haven’t been returned.”
I did have a compassionate agent in the store who finally stepped in to try to help. She and her manager did create a workaround and were able to issue return labels that were mailed to my house so that I could return the devices and have the balance cleared. I was assured over and over that what they were doing would work.
I did receive the labels a few days later, talked to the agent to confirm that if I shipped the devices out immediately, the balance would be cleared. So I shipped them out. I confirmed by UPS tracking they were received.
But today I get notification that Verizon has turned this $805 “bill” over to a collections agency. I feel I have no recourse? Hire an attorney?
YEP, VERIZON IS OUT TO SCAM YOU.

Verizon continues to send us a bill…
Verizon continues to send us a bill after we canceled our plan over 5 months ago. We paid the first two bills and yet they still claim we owe them for the time it took for the like to be disconnected (apparently it takes 3 months to disconnect a line). We have had to call 3 times to dispute the bill. Each time they say its resolved, have us pay an amount of money and then send us another bill. Verizon is a predatory company thay relies on people being to frustrated with their system to cancel their plan. They continuously hike up prices to benefit their bottom line and do nothing to improve the customer experience. We will never go back to Verizon for any service.

Their AI service is absolutely…
Their AI service is absolutely ridiculous! Something as simple as making a payment over the phone takes 30 to 40 minutes and then when you do speak to a live agent to take a payment there is a $10 charge! Their customer service is the worst and I would consider switching because of this alone
