TOTAL SCAM! This is an unethical book buyer. They offer great prices for buyback only to reject the books you send them and, if you are not willing to pay the shipping cost to return them they offer to ‘recycle’ them for you…which I suspect means they will sell them to a third party anyway.
NO OTHER BUYER DOES THIS AS OFTEN!
My first experience with them and in 5 shipments they rejected perfectly fine books about 2/3 the time.
TITAL SCAM!

I tried to give Valore a try to sell…
Valore responded to say they only received 4 of 5 books. This is not true. I videoed the books and packing. I do not recommend Valore.
Original review: I tried to give Valore a try to sell back books. It was so difficult and time consuming to just add my information it kept starting over. Books I scanned just moments before were already no offers while I tried to enter my information. In the end sent in 5 books. 3 weeks later they paid me for 4. Never mentioned the 5th. I took videos of each book before I mailed them. They were all in good condition. There was no reason or even one word about why it was excluded.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced while placing your sellback order and understand your frustration.
After reviewing your order history, we confirmed that your shipment was received on October 19 and processed on October 20. Our receiving records show that four of the five books listed on your order were received, which is why payment was issued for only four books.
We understand your concern about the missing book, especially since you mentioned documenting the condition of each book before shipping. We'd be happy to look into this further and review any additional information you can provide.
We apologize for the frustration this experience has caused and appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention.

They lost my book
They lost my book. Blamed shipping when it never even showed up as shipped or anything. Because I didn’t give them extra money for shipping protection or whatever refused a refund. Left it as processing for two months before I gave up and complained. “Hey, this guy didn’t buy shipping protection. Print the label, and throw it back on the shelf to scam him out of his money.” Zero help what so ever

Hi Alex,
We're sorry to hear about your experience, but we'd like to clarify a few details regarding your order.
Our records confirm that your order was placed on the afternoon of August 27th and shipped the following day, August 28th, via UPS Mail Innovations. The package was transferred from UPS to USPS on September 1st and was out for delivery on September 2nd. According to USPS tracking records, delivery was refused on September 2nd, after which USPS classified the package as "dead mail" and disposed of it that same day.
We understand your frustration, but want to be clear that your order was shipped promptly and delivery was attempted just six days after your order was placed. We've also found public reviews describing mail delivery difficulties at your apartment building, which may provide additional context, although we cannot confirm whether those issues contributed to your delivery being refused.
The suggestion that we intentionally withheld your book because you did not purchase Shipping Safeguard is simply not accurate. We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, but hope this information helps clarify what happened with your shipment.

Physical Book means looseleaf pages!
I rented a book advertised as "physical book". Other options were "digital" and "looseleaf pages". When I received it it was looseleaf pages. I called customer service and the rep had the nerve to say looseleaf pages and physical book mean the same. I said as a customer how would you know that if it's not on the description and he said Valore assumes customers know if you put looseleaf pages in a binder it becomes a book. That is a joke. A book is defined by pages that are physically bound. This was after emailing and leaving several messages that went unreturned. I finally got through and that's the answer I received, not even an acknowledgement that a customer has no way of knowing that an item described as physical book is just looseleaf pages. I even asked why show looseleaf and physical book if it's all looseleaf and he just repeated they're the same thing. Order from another company that at least clearly describes the products.

Hi MP,
We're sorry to hear about the confusion and your experience when contacting our Customer Service team.
The book you rented is a physical, loose-leaf edition, and the loose-leaf format is identified in the item details on our product page, below the image of the cover. A loose-leaf book is a physical book, but instead of being bound like a traditional hardcover or paperback, the pages are provided loose and are typically designed to be placed in a three-ring binder.
Our distinction between "physical" and "digital" refers to how the course material is delivered. Physical books can be published in several formats, including hardcover, paperback, and loose-leaf. Each format generally has its own ISBN, which is why it's important to review the format and ISBN listed in the item details when selecting an edition.
We understand that the terminology could have been explained more clearly during your conversation with our team, and we appreciate your feedback about that experience.

No book and no refund
Received an email stating they got my order, money was removed from my account...ok that's fine that is how it works (August 20th). Well......I got another email stating that the order was being processed. Ok good. Then on August 24th I received an email stating they cannot track my order nor can they refund my money that I outright paid for not rented! Tried calling the customer service number 6 times and was disconnected 6 times! I was not rude or inappropriate. I was pleasant and calm. Now I'm pissed. No book and I can't get a refund as of August 30th! What kind of business are you running!?!?! Ripping off hard working people that are trying to make a better life for themselves and family! I'm absolutely disgusted! At this point I just want my money back! Guess what the email said no refunds! STAY FAR FAR AWAY!!!!!
If I could give a negative rating it would be -10 stars. You should be ashamed of yourself!!!!!

I’m very sorry for the frustration and inconvenience you’ve experienced with your order. We offer Shipping Safeguard to protect your order in the event it gets lost or damaged during delivery, however after further review we found UPS never scanned the package to begin the delivery. It appears the package, which left our facility on August 21st, may have been lost before that initial scan was completed.
We reached out on August 31st and offered options for a refund or reshipment of your order, and we’re glad we were able to resolve the issue.

I don't even want to give them a 1…
I don't even want to give them a 1 star. I did not have too much of an issue, until I needed to extend a rental into another semester. This is not something I knew I would need to do when I initially rented the textbook. They have a 15-day extension option, which I had to pay $12 for, and when I reached out to customer support to extend it through the semester, they simply said that is not an option and I would have to return and then rent the textbook again. That has to be a joke of a business plan and a waste of resources. Not to mention, I have 1 week between semesters in my graduate program, so I do not have that time. I also realized that after renting some textbooks, I would like to purchase them to reference in the future, and while their site says this is an option, I can find it anywhere. So do I not return them and then wait for them to charge me for the cost of the book? Overall, just a really frustrating site, which is unfortunate because I used Chegg all through my undergrad and loved them. I wish it was still Chegg and not this Valore site. I'd avoid it and even pay more to get your books elsewhere.

Hi Cortney,
Thanks for reaching out. I see you had been working with one of our Customer Service reps around the time of your review. After checking the history, it looks like we were able to present you with a few options, and you ultimately decided to buy the books outright.
I hope everything was resolved to your satisfaction, but we welcome any additional feedback about the process that you’d like to share.

PLEASE BEWARE AND DO NOT...I REPEAT DO…
PLEASE BEWARE AND DO NOT...I REPEAT DO NOT RENT OR BUT BOOKS FROM THIS COMPANY!
If I could give this company ZERO stars I would! My son graduated college and returned the books and this company went into my bank account WITHOUT my permission and took money that did NOT belong to them for books that was returned back on 8/25 25 unbeknownst to us that the company was no longer Chegg. I asked well as my son have left REPEATED messages as well as emails and not ONE call or email has been returned. We incurred over draft charges and that was also noted in the calls and emails and still NOTHING. Even though I reported them for fraud, I want to warn others to please go elsewhere or try Amazon.
Response from ValoreAug 10, 2026
We’re sorry for the frustration surrounding this situation. As we have communicated through email and phone calls, we have thoroughly reviewed the account and would like to clarify the circumstances of the charge.
The book rented on August 25, 2025 was successfully returned on December 26, 2025. The charge referenced in this review was not related to that rental.
A separate book was rented in January 2026 for the Spring semester and was not returned by the rental due date. Return reminders were sent by email on March 27, April 12, April 19, and April 25, and a text message reminder was sent on April 24, three days before the rental was due.
After the book remained unreturned, an additional text notification was sent on July 31 advising that a buyout fee would be charged in accordance with the rental agreement.
We understand that unexpected charges can be frustrating. However, we want to clarify for anyone reading this review that the charge was for a separate, unreturned rental—not for the book that was returned in December. The applicable reminders and notice of the buyout charge were sent before the charge was processed.

Go elsewhere. Don’t make the mistake I did
I highly recommend buying the book you’re considering elsewhere. This is my first time renting from them. Never again.
I paid a lot of money to rent a book “in good condition.” Yet, a big chunk completely fell out of the binding together. No other damage. No mishandling. Very little use on my part.
After communicating with customer service, my best choice was to pay the absurd buyout fee in hopes I can just sell it myself. They said if you send the book back and they somehow deem it unacceptable, be warned they will throw the book out and charge you an even higher replacement fee.
So basically you can pay $290 for a brand new textbook (and maybe get $150 if you can sell it) or pay $248 to rent one with damaged binding and a pre-used access code.
Edit: This doesn't address my concern. In our private correspondence, I was told that if I returned the book with the damaged binding, it may be discarded rather than repaired. That means I would lose any opportunity to sell the book myself while still risking being charged if your company determined there is damage. Presenting that as a real choice isn't accurate. My concern isn't that I've already been charged. The options provided effectively pressure renters into paying the buyout for a book that arrived with a defective binding.
Response from ValoreJul 31, 2026
Hi Sophia,
We're sorry to hear the binding came apart while you were using the book. We understand how frustrating that would be.
We'd also like to clarify a few points for anyone reading your review. Based on our records, you haven't been charged a buyout or any damage fees. The only charge on your account is the original rental fee of $138, and you're still able to return the book through the rental due date of August 8, 2026.
If a rental is returned with damage, we don't automatically charge a fee. Our warehouse first checks whether the book can be repaired and put back into circulation. Only if the damage is beyond repair would a damage fee be considered.
If you still have questions or would like us to take another look at your situation, we'd be happy to help.
