I got unreal mobile for my son for it was only $10 and cuz there was good reviews on there service, my experience with them is when I updated and changed my payment method to my new debit card I looked online to check out if the payment went through and saw unreal mobile charged my bank account $20.00 when my bill is only $10, Also they suspended my service when I updated my card even though I paid them online. I called there customer service & I asked why I was charged double and was told they charge a $20 fee for you to change your payment method and was told that if I wanted to get back service to have them I would have to use a totally different card and pay $10. After finding all of that out I canceled there service and called my bank and found out from the bank customer service rep that unreal mobile tried to charge my card $20 on 5 different times back to back same day I updated my payment card and tried to charge my card $10 on top of that 5 different times as well. I don’t recommend unreal mobile- if you want to get ripped off and get charged hidden fees then unreal mobile is the real mobile service that will gladly rip you off.

Credit card fraud!!! Stay away! Thieves and liars!
I ordered a mobile hotspot from FreedomPop/Unreal Mobile a few months back. It arrived in a box on my front porch shortly after. I opened it up, and since there were no real instructions, installed the app on my phone and turned it on. I managed to get the hotspot activated.
I connected to it via my TV and sat down to watch a movie on Netflix, knowing that I only had 2GB of high speed data before it slowed down to a low speed connection. Halfway through the movie, the connection stopped entirely. No connection. Since I was led to believe that there was no limit to the throttled connection, I thought, "What a ripoff. I'll cancel in the morning".
In the morning, I couldn't locate a customer service number or website, so I turned on the device to see if I could find anything on it. Wifi was working again! I blamed it on a tech malfunction and left the service active.
I used the hotspot sporadically to check emails and as a backup source of data while traveling at work. I figured I'd give it another chance when the billing cycle renewed.
When nothing improved over 2 billing cycles, I went through the app, to my account page and canceled. I got the typical confirmation email and moved on... or so I thought...
HERE'S WHERE THE REAL SCAM STARTS...
I recieved an overdraft notice from my bank account that I had been trying to close out. When I logged into my account I discovered that Unreal Mobile had charged me for 2 hotspots instead of the one. On top of that, they had been charging me for a second account all along. Not only that, but the second account was still active! And all of these unknown charges had caused me 100's of dollars in overdraft fees!!!
Since months had passed, I had no account info. There was no way I was going to turn on the hotspot for info. So I searched the internet until I found an email link for customer service. I explained everything and said I needed a refund for everything related to the second hotspot and connected account, which I had never ordered, received, or used.
A day (and more overdraft fees) later, I got a scripted nonsensical response from JOSE D., telling me that I was ineligible for a refund, because I hadn't canceled my NONEXISTENT service within 14 days of not receiving it.
I'll summarize from here...
For the next week I argued with this mindless pool of intellectual vomit, Jose D. Demanding to speak with someone else. But only Jose D. replied, with his scripted, repetitious b.s. Until I finally stumbled across a phone number, on a review page, filled with people ready to lynch Jose D.
I called and spent hours on the phone with another genius, who tried the same thing, then tried to convince me that he was waiting for a decision from their headquarters, and would email me with their decision. At that time, I broke it down to legal terms, and informed him that I had been recording the entire conversation as well as keeping a record of all the e-mails between unreal and myself. I told him that the transaction was fraudulent, and constituted credit card fraud. If my money were not returned before the end of the week, charges would be filed which would include charges against him personally. It would be in his best interests to stay on the phone with me until the issue was resolved.
Miraculously, at that time, he received an email from his superiors, saying they would return $60 of my money within a week.
I was so angry, I didn't bother to fight for the rest of my money. I just wanted to be done with them. Thankfully my bank has agreed to waive the overdraft fees, since the situation was caused by Unreal Mobile.

Absolutely the worst phone system ever
Absolutely the worst phone system ever. The phone/text system works off of an app which is one more step to make texts and was difficult to get around. There is a delay in phone conversations making them confusing, many incoming calls were dropped or never received, connectivity was sporadic even when the phone showed several bars and clarity was mostly poor. I would definitely not recommend the yearly discounted rate as you could lose it all while trying to switch.

Awesome service
I have 3 Unreal accounts...2 BYOP and one SIM card. Great service a fair prices for unlimited data. No way to ever just run out of data. Pay for the high speed you need....if it runs out you drop to low 2G speed data but you will never be cut off. Data rolls over too for up to 20 GB. All for as little as $10 a month for 1GB!!! How can you possibly go wrong? Need more high speed? Just hope go for a higher plan. Very fair and I have always gotten excellent customer service on the rare occasion 8 have s problem.

Cannot SMS after Porting out from Unreal Mobile
When using Unreal Mobile, you are forced to use their app to send texts and it's terrible. SMS doesn't always transmit. And phone calls are a joke - horrible reception and don't always connect.
THEN to top it all off, I ported my number out to another carrier (one I had previously used without any problems) and Unreal Mobile didn't port my number out properly so now SMS messages are not received by contacts and I cannot receive SMS from contacts unless on T-Mobile.
Unreal Mobile Customer service only available Mon-Fri for limited number of hours. Very long hold time to reach a tech who is rude and unhelpful.
STAY AWAY!!!

Worth every penny
I've used Unreal Mobile for the last two months. The service has been on par with Cricket, which I had used for 3 years before. It uses the same AT&T towers for the SIM card service. Coverage is just like AT&T as well. You do have to use their app for text and MMS, which does function well, but occasionally will bug out and you have to press the "sync account" button on the home screen of the Unreal app. I definitely recommend this service for anyone looking to save money on a great network. I am using this on an Android phone and so I cannot speak to how they iPhone app behaves, coverage would be the same.
