The company offered more coverage than previous company so I cancelled and chose universal. Big mistake, received a letter of cancellation 30 days later saying underwriting could not inspect my home. Tried scheduling an inspection for the next 30 days and no one would answer. They offered no resource for me to schedule any inspection and would not accept my current 4 point inspection just completed this year. Ultimately my insurance was cancelled. Luckily, I was smart enough to kick this company and hire a new company with insurance effective on the cancellation date. What a waste of my time universal was!!!

The responses from Universal -- I think they're garbage. They appear to be scamming people in at a lower rate than others charge or that they intend to charge -- the insurance agent, presumably nsure in the same FL area-- which will ask you for prior insurance info., other docs they don't need or already have -- may give you false info. Then they ignore you or you stop responding -- fine for them...more days they can charge you a higher rate for the bill you get a month later showing a huge increase. Why are they allowed to do this? I see insurance has gotten really bad -- even concerned the mortgage company is getting in on the "k-back." We definitely need regulators to get past the crap (using increased building materials price, etc.) and deal with these people. Update: Tried to cancel and guess what they did referred me to the dirty insurance company who sent daily harassing nonsense emails asking for intrusive information, nothing that they would have used for legitimate business purposes. Universal finally agreed to cancel as of today, let's see if this is the latest "lying because we can." The state ins. board should have no confusion as to why we are furious. What are they doing these days-9/3 Obvious fraud, they decided they didn't like the quote from three months before and are actually trying to keep a large increase in premium following cancellation -- they are actually retroactively applying a $300 premium increase. They knew what the house was made of from day 1. Total scam. No insurance company gets to rewrite their quotes. It's theft.

My premium started at $1056 in 2021 now it's $2467 in 2024 with no claims not 1

The most non-responsive unprofessional company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Not even dealing with a big dollar claim (under $5,000) between switching adjustors, not returning phone calls regarding submitted invoices and pictures, they have made the process a living hell. I cannot imagine being so unlucky as to actually be a client of theirs as their lack of response in any way shows what contempt they hold their rate payers. Just a disgusting hive of snakes. If I could give zero stars I would as that is what they truly deserve.

I too have been waiting over 6 months to settle a small claim, hate to see what would happen if there was a major claim. This company gives you the run around, but I'd bet if you were 1 day late on payment they'd drop you!! Worst insurance company ever!!!!! Lack of communication is ridiculous!!!!

Not recommended at all. I have been waiting for more than 6 months. You already know the whole situation with proof and even so, there is still no answer. I think I am going to see a very careful lawyer.

The lack of communication, little to no updates, emails, texts, and lacking of professionalism on our case over 120 days. I would not recommend this company for home insurance.
