This is the worst property insurance company ever. They will give you the runaround in order to not pay your legitimate claims. I've been waiting for almost a year for my mold repairs and every time I call for an update, I'm given a new adjuster who doesn't return my calls or emails.

I am presently in Ireland. I received an email yesterday saying Balance Due! I tried to access my account via the llink - timed out!! I tried to open your website - timed out. If there is no other way I will pay when I return to the USA on 11th December. Please........

This would be zero stars if that was an option. I purchased homeowners' insurance from Universal in July of 2024 for a home I purchased in St. Petersburg Florida. On October 3 I received a check in the mail from Universal saying our policy was cancelled effective 9/20 due to an "underwriting issue" - conveniently just before Hurrican Helene hit. The check was dated 9/30. There was no notice of this through mail or email. I actually received an email from Universal with "Emergency Assistance Resources for Helene" dated 9/29 - why would I get that email if my policy was cancelled as of 9/20? Very shady business. We received no notice in the mail or email about this.

Without getting into too many details online. The state implements certain laws when it comes to hurricanes and previous polices around the time of cancelation. There is nothing shady going on. Please contact your agent directly for more information.

Really this company should be out of business. If a company has 73% of dissatisfied customers/clients how is the Insurance commissioner allowing them to stay in business. My issue is … if another insurance agent sent cancellation in, he had to use the system that allows access to the receiving or initial company. My research indicates that the number my cancellation was sent to was/ is in the Universual Property & Causualty network! If not that you can’t cancel over fax, over phone, nor do they back cancellations. Well mine was sent in well enough time to cancel. In my opinion it’s my word against theirs that they didn’t receive information concerning cancellation, and commissioner’s office excepted there’s! Insurance Commissioner’s office is a joke as well! No real investigating done! 0 would be my rating for both!!

Thank you for offering your feedback and allowing us the opportunity to clarify. In January you called on a recorded line to cancel the policy. You were advised on how to do that. If the agent of record at the time submitted a cancelation at your request, we would have honored it. The new agent should call the agent of record to cancel or change agents with your authorization. This did not happen. After being advised on how to cancel your policy in January, it wasn't until April that UPCIC finally received a cancelation request. All has been documented and all calls recorded. You are correct, UPCIC does not backdate cancelations. The premium used for coverage during the life of the policy is nonrefundable. You were however refunded from the date of cancelation. We hope this helps you and anyone reading your review understand the circumstances surrounding your cancelation. We wish you well.

I have never worked with a company that has been so terrible. They are refusing to pay a claim, have dragged me through years of battling. They are unorganized and mean. PLEASE DO NOT EVER USE THEM! Trust me!
