It's been frustrating rebooking my flight. The only thing that worked on the website was flight cancellation. Otherwise, have been unable to rebook my flight, their customer care lines South Africa, Nigeria/ Ghana didn't help either.

United Airlines: What a Bitter Disappointment
For over 30 years, first as a consultant and later as a VP with Viacom, my only requirement was that I fly on United. Flying only in the U.S., I flew United so often that I was one of the first women to gain Premier Status when it was first implemented. I was a proud and loyal customer of United Airlines.
In recent years, I rarely fly and had not flown United in years. I flew from California on Delta as its schedule fit my tight schedule. The flight was flawless, the flight crew upbeat and accommodating, the seats generous and comfortable, and coffee came with packets of real diary creamer. What a delight and pleasure and what a stark difference with my United Airlines experience!
The planes’ interiors are tight and grubby, the snack service begrudging, the United personnel grumpy. The whole experience was bottom, discount basement. Purchasing my ticket on Delta was easy and quick. Even with my extensive experience with apps, United’s app is confusing and bulky as well as frustrating. What a bitter disappointment after being so thrilled to finally be flying United again.
It is so heart breaking to discover the level to which United has fallen. I had to gate check my carryon bag. I have no expectation of its waiting for me as I deplane or that I shall ever see it or its contents again. Goodbye, United. Hello, Delta.

Absolutely horrible experience
Absolutely horrible experiences flying with United. I was flying NY to SYD, and because of significant delays on their end I missed my connection. They refused to rebook me on a different airline later in the day so I was forced to take their next flight to Sydney 24 hours later. While they did provide accomodation for the night, it was only until 10am and my flight was at 11pm meaning I was in LA for over 12 hours with no where to go and all my luggage.
They tried to remedy the situation by offering me a voucher. I thought I would try again the same flight again. Same incident occurred. There is no airport staff to assist, rather all rebooking happens over chat and is drawn out for very long periods.
I tried to apply for compensation for missed work due to the over 24 hour delay with no success. With over $300 of uber fees back and forth to the airport, I should have just flown with a better airline.
Will not be flying united again, and would not recommend it to anyone else.

I strongly recommend thinking twice…
I strongly recommend thinking twice before choosing United Airlines, especially when there are so many other airlines available in the United States.
I have been waiting for my flight for approximately 15 hours. Throughout this entire time, instead of giving us clear and honest information, we were repeatedly told that the flight would depart “in another hour.” One hour became another hour, then another, and this continued for almost 15 hours.
What made the situation even worse was the way we were treated when we simply asked for information. After keeping passengers waiting for this long, you would expect the staff to at least be understanding, respectful, and helpful. Instead, we were met with dismissive and rude attitudes.
At this point, I feel like my time and money have been completely disregarded. Keeping customers waiting for 15 hours without providing clear answers, constantly changing the expected departure time, and then treating them poorly when they ask questions is completely unacceptable.
There are many airlines operating in the United States. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend considering another airline before booking with United Airlines.
A company should respect its customers’ time, money, and basic right to receive accurate information. Unfortunately, my experience with United Airlines showed me the opposite.
15 hours of waiting, constant delays, unclear information, and disrespectful customer service. I will think very carefully before ever choosing United Airlines again.

Do not fly with United
Do not fly with United. They have ruined two of our recent trips.
On August 13, my wife and daughter’s connecting flight from ORD to SGF was originally scheduled for 9:25 PM. United kept delaying it over and over—to 12:40 AM, 1:00 AM, 1:30 AM, and then supposedly to 10:00 AM the next morning. At this point, we are not even sure the 10:00 AM flight will actually depart. They also kept changing the gate and terminal repeatedly.
Because of these ridiculous and repeated schedule changes, my wife and daughter could not even go to a hotel. Each time they thought the flight was finally going to leave, it was delayed again. They ended up staying at the airport all night in an extremely cold terminal, literally shaking from the cold. On top of that, they missed all the plans they had made with family before the wedding.
On another recent international trip from Ireland to EWR, United would not issue our boarding passes through the app or online and instead told us we had to go to the counter to get them. By the time we got there, they refused to issue the boarding passes because they said the gate was already closed. We missed the flight, and United still did not take responsibility.
Between these two experiences, we lost valuable vacation time, hotel and rental-car expenses, and important plans with family. After all of that disruption, United offered only a $200 credit.
Terrible customer service and absolutely no accountability. United has been the worst airline experience we have had.

Horrendous airline , horrendous staff
Horrendous airline ,, cancelled our flight and made another one available at £1600 more . Originally had pre booked seats , but on the new flight we we separated , including my juvenile daughter being sat by herself . The staff are useless and just don’t want to help .
Sent a message 10 minutes before boarding to inform us the wi Fi wasn’t working and to download the united airlines app ..

I think it’s difficult for any airline…
I think it’s difficult for any airline to get 5 star rating I guess . But being a member of United and comparing our experience with other star alliance and other non star alliance airlines , we get a lot for being a member . Yes they could be better esp in business class services - mostly always seem impersonal - not like emirates or Lufthansa or Singapore . But United app is great , compared to so many horrible apps we have used with other airlines esp when you have to use local airlines when you travel . The greatest thing about United is that they rarely or never fly first or business class eats empty / they always give it to their members even if you’ve the lowest tier if seats are available . I have seen stingy airlines even star alliance rather fly their business / first class empty than giving it as a free upgrade to their members even. Fe times even when we didn’t ask for upgrade with United they put us in business class when seats were not filled from international flights . You never realize how better United is until you start flying other airlines . But if you’re not a member and booking outside of United , not sure how things are . Atleast we are loyal to United and they’re loyal to us . Time to time we also get to fly Lufthansa first class through rewards which is great ! Even as a Lufthansa premier tier member it’s hard to acquire that .

United Airlines Garbage Experience
Just absolutely garbage experience with United Airlines...
I originally booked my trip in Expedia. I selected the cheapest flight option (which means I selected United Basic Economy). Not realizing that Basic Economy means you cannot bring your carry-on on to the plane!!!??? WTF!? Whoever has even heard of this!? Everyone needs at least a basic carry-on bag, right!!?? So, I call United and say ok WTF is going on here, i need to have a carry-on and a personal item and they respond that will be $75 each way for your carry-on and I am like WTF!!!??? So, $150 for both ways just for carry-on luggage! Insane BS. I said is there any cheaper option!? They say OK if you check your Carry-On we can reduce it to $45 each way. I'm still like WTF!? This is BS...United Airlines, are you associated with the mafia or something!? I feel like I'm getting the mafia shakedown here. So I finally capitulate and say ok WTF ever let's proceed! So it was going to be me and my girlfriend and so there is, according to United's f****d up software, four financial transactions that need to be processed here!!!!???? WTF!!!???? I NEED TO YELL MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION FOUR TIMES (ACTUALLY MORE THAN EIGHT TIMES BECAUSE SEVERAL TRANSACTIONS DIDN'T GO THROUGH) IN A BUSY BUSINESS AREA...CC NUMBER, EXPIRATION DATE, 3 DIGIT CODE, NAME ON CC...TO SOME GUY IN INDIA (WHICH I CAN BARELY HEAR OVER THE CRAPPY PHONE CONNECTION)...THIS LITERALLY TOOK ABOUT AN HOUR'S TIME!!!!???? I'M LIKE WTF SQUARED!!!???? PROBABLY ONE OF THE WORST TRAVEL EXPERIENCES I HAVE EVER HAD EVER BY MILES!
