I think it’s difficult for any airline to get 5 star rating I guess . But being a member of United and comparing our experience with other star alliance and other non star alliance airlines , we get a lot for being a member . Yes they could be better esp in business class services - mostly always seem impersonal - not like emirates or Lufthansa or Singapore . But United app is great , compared to so many horrible apps we have used with other airlines esp when you have to use local airlines when you travel . The greatest thing about United is that they rarely or never fly first or business class eats empty / they always give it to their members even if you’ve the lowest tier if seats are available . I have seen stingy airlines even star alliance rather fly their business / first class empty than giving it as a free upgrade to their members even. Fe times even when we didn’t ask for upgrade with United they put us in business class when seats were not filled from international flights . You never realize how better United is until you start flying other airlines . But if you’re not a member and booking outside of United , not sure how things are . Atleast we are loyal to United and they’re loyal to us . Time to time we also get to fly Lufthansa first class through rewards which is great ! Even as a Lufthansa premier tier member it’s hard to acquire that .

The people at United Airline are great! All of them! God bless them. I missed my flight, the clerk nicely rebooked it at once at no charge. I got a wound on my forehead, the stewardess promptly cleaned the would and applied a bandage. Everyone at Untied acted like Good Samaritans! I shall promote United airline to the best of my ability!

My review is bittersweet. First off, I tried to check-in online for my flight. This feature is not for Canadian residents. United Airlines you need to update this feature, allowing a Canadian address to complete the check-in service. After numerous attempts trying to check in online I realized the issue. Then I called United Airlines to let them know the problem with their online check-in. I intended to check-in during this phone call but was on hold 20mins, I finally hung up. Then this morning I come to the Toronto Pearson Airport to check-in. Went to the United Airlines check-in. By the time I reached the airline representative, he scanned my passport, laid it back on the counter and said " I can't check you in, you'll have to get the next flight at 4:00". He said it was out of his hands. Apparently he could not bring up the flight on his computer. It was closed. There was plenty of time to provide me with a boarding pass since the flight was not leaving for 1 hour and 20 minutes. By this time my patience ran out. I told him I am booked for surgery tomorrow and it's important for me to be there on time today since the chauffeur will be picking me up at the airport at TOA. He showed no empathy! I then called United Airlines customer service. The male representative was doing his best to provide a solution. I was on the phone with him 17 minutes when I noticed a female United Airlines representative walking past me. I asked her if she was the supervisor and she said yes. God love her! Her name is Tanisha. I immediately filled her in on my situation. I told her how the male representative was most non empathetic. Tanisha called out to representative Clair, who was seated at UA counter. "Clair, book this lady a direct flight to San Diego" Tanisha you are one of the most thoughtful, caring , empathetic supervisor. Without you I would have been in limbo. I got on my new flight and will be there on time. I hope United Airlines realize how great you are with crisis intervention. We need more of Tanisha's!!

United Airlines is frequently used by us and one of my favorite airlines. Their prices are usually reasonable, flights are generally on time and staff is pretty courteous.

Wir wurden auf dem Rückflug von Kanada nach Deutschland über San Francisco nach Frankfurt umgebucht und flogen anstatt mit der angedachten Airline (Discover) mit United Airlines; aufgrund der hier zu lesenden negativen Rezensionen waren wir auf die Echtzeit gespannt. Dem können wir ganz und gar nicht zustimmen. Wir bekamen sowohl in Calgary als auch in San Fransisco ständig SMS-Nachricht über Aktualisierungen der Gates und den Boardings. Die Flugzeuge waren sauber und vermittelten (beim ersten auch älteren Flugzeug) Sicherheit. Das Personal war rundum jederzeit hilfsbereit und auskunftsfreudig. Das Essen auf dem Interkontinentalflug war einwandfrei und nicht zu beanstanden. Zwischendurch wurden immer wieder Getränke mit guter Auswahl gereicht. United Airlines hat mich vom Gegenteil überzeugt und ich würde sie jederzeit wieder wählen.

Travelled from Edinburgh to Chicago and on to Des Moines and returned. Nice journey, food good and comfort was ok but for me the staff worked tirelessly. I had no hassle and was travelling alone so kept things simple. I will use them again. Nothing to do with United the only issue is Chicago Airport, you had to walk miles and recheck your bags was abit of a nuisance.

I had a great experience with United, so I am surprised to see so much negativity. Flights were on time, cabin crew were polite and attentive. The captain took a slightly longer route to avoid turbulence, so I am very grateful for that! Overall really pleased with everything.

I made my 25th Trans Pacific flight on Wednesday and have nothing but glowing things to say about United. My wife and I were moving from Costa Rica to Japan. Our Early Tuesday morning flight from San Jose Costa Rica to Los Angeles on Alaska was canceled due to weather. We had to spend the night at a cheapo hotel in Costa Rica on Alaska's dime, but we missed our Noon flight from LAX to Tokyo, so we had to spend the night at LAX. We checked into our hotel at 11:30 PM and I immediately got on the phone to get rebooked on the same flight the following day and it was accomplished. The lounge at LAX was okay. The flight crew on our flight was extraordinarily great in the forward cabin. Friendly, engaging and pleasant is an understatement, but what happened after the flight was totally unexpected. My wife left her electronic tablet at her seat. When we got to where we were staying she got on the phone with customer service at Haneda Airport. I prepared my wife to never see the tablet again. I was wrong. The tablet was found and she arranged to have it delivered to her for a nominal fee. We arrived here on Thursday and the tablet was delivered early Saturday afternoon. What can I say beyond "thanks" for a very positive experience before, during, and after the flight.
