Went to ulta because I needed a new undereye concealer and figured while I was there, I would see if they had a good quality spf facial moisturizer for my 7 year old daughter who gets really dry skin during the winter (she has been using mine, but felt there must be a more affordable kids version). When I explained this to the sales lady she said yes confidently and lead me to the clinique section or a kid! Not only that but the product she was trying to sell me had no spf. When I pointed this out she goes "spf is really only for anti-aging, is there a reason you want it for your daughter. Horror! What?! Ulta needs to educate their staff that spf is a vital form of skin care for all ages and should be worn year round to protect from skin damage. (Check out skin care foundation and other foundations if you don't believe me).

My Ulta app has been down for over 1…
My Ulta app has been down for over 1 week now. It keeps saying it’s taking a beauty rest. What is up? This is VERY frustrating. My app is updated and so is my phone. I’ve gotten NO response as to why!

Long time customer
Long time customer, unfortunately 85% of my purchases in store and online are used before I get to even try it. Super gross. This is common. I give them slack for the return policy but after this recent incident I’m done with the company.
Got excited for their 50% off 21 day sale & ordered my usual foundation E.L futurist, which isn’t sold in stores where I live. Despite the large color label on the box, they shipped the wrong product & said it’s sold out so exchange isn’t possible. Cost $20 in gas to drive out there to get my $23 refund. Awful

ULTA BEAUTY SETTLES HAZARDOUS WASTE…
ULTA BEAUTY SETTLES HAZARDOUS WASTE CASE WITH CALIFORNIA PROSECUTORS
Contact: Emily Hickok, Deputy District Attorney
Telephone: (831) 647-7710
Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni announced today that her office, along with 33 other California District Attorneys and City Attorneys, have reached a settlement for violations of hazardous waste laws with Ulta Beauty, Inc., Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance, Inc., Ulta, Inc., and Possibilities AB, Inc., (collectively referred to as, “Ulta”). The settlement requires Ulta to pay $752,000 in civil penalties, supplemental environmental projects, and costs. Ulta has 161 facilities in California, two of which are located in Monterey County.
The settlement follows an investigation by prosecutors of Ulta stores located within California for improper storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous and other regulated waste, as well as inadequate employee training. Additionally, Ulta failed to take sufficient steps to preserve the confidentiality of their customers’ information by unlawfully disposing of customer records without having rendered personal information unreadable.
The settlement includes a Final Judgment and Permanent Injunction, wherein Ulta must pay $439,500 in civil penalties, $250,000 in plaintiffs’ costs, and $62,500 in supplemental environmental projects. Defendants must also implement compliance assurance programs. The settlement was filed on September 15, 2021 in Solano County Superior Court Case No. FCS057080.
In full cooperation with the People’s investigation, California Ulta stores have adopted and implemented new policies and procedures and enhanced existing training programs designed to properly manage and dispose of hazardous waste products, other regulated waste, and confidential customer consumer information.
“This most recent hazardous waste settlement demonstrates my office’s longstanding commitment to protecting the environment as well as consumer privacy rights by mandating safer waste practices and preserving customers’ confidential information,” said District Attorney Jeannine Pacioni.

I want to love Ulta, I really do.
I want to love Ulta, I really do. They have great sales, coupons, prices for people who don’t want to spend a small fortune to look good. So why the 2 star review? They need to get their sh!t together. Literally every single order I have placed online has had something wrong with it: products missing, products completely broken, products damaged. I bought a 5-pack of face masks that only had 3 in the package. My glass bottle of face serum was broken because they decided a bubble envelope was enough to protect it. My foundation bottle was smashed completely, leaking makeup all over my other products because packing no bubble wrap to protect the contents is okay. The wrong shampoo was sent to me. I have placed multiple orders over the years and there has been an issue WITH EVERY SINGLE ONE. Customer service has never been an issue, they have always been courteous and helpful and sent replacements, but the fact I have to call every single time I receive an order is frustrating and making me realize I’d rather pay more money to go through Sephora and have no problems. It’s such a shame, Ulta needs to get their act together or else they will continue to lose customers.

The mail order came in a complete mess
The mail order came in a complete mess. Two items were already open. I cleaned everything up and threw out messy packaging. The customer service is making me send back the items that had dirty packaging. Next time they'll get the whole box back. After all that cleaning, I have to post something back. The items are unsaleable. They are wasting paying for the return mailing label. The first agent who helped me kept getting my info mixed up, so it was a 30 minute call for a 10 minute problem.

Would not online order again
Would not online order again. I placed an order then received an email that it had shipped. Nine days later I called to see where it was because the tracking said it was still awaiting pick up. Called customer service and apparently it’s still sitting in a back room waiting for UPS to pick it up. So “your product has shipped email” means we have boxed it and put a shipping label on it. Also weekend shipping days don’t count when you order, week days only. It can take 2 weeks..if I had known that I would have ordered it elsewhere.

Online Customer Service is BAD
My review is for the online customer service phone number. First off I was put on hold 3 times and disconnected. The person that I talked to did not tell the truth, she told me that the 20% coupon code was taking off and it was not. This is not the first time I've had issues with the Online customer service help phone number. They really don't want to help and it shows. I will never call them for anything again, I called my local store and they are going to make up for the 20% off not taken off my online order.
