Trek Madone 4.5 Warranty?
I bought a Trek Madone 4.5 from the main retailer in Hungary with a lifetime warranty on the frame. About a month and a half ago, the bike started creaking and I had decided to take it bake to the dealership to be serviced. However, before I could, on my last ride on it the seat complete with seat post came out in my hand. Apparently, there is an aluminum tube within the carbon seat tube. This aluminum tube had broken. I took it back to the dealership, they photographed it, questioned me about use and sent the pictures to their main offices. After more than 3 weeks and countless phone calls from being passed from one sales assistant to the next, I finally received the news that Trek refuses to honor their warranty agreement, because they claim I had fallen with it. How could I have fallen with only damaging the inner aluminum seat tube, without having damaged (not even a scratch) any other part of the bicycle, seat, or received any injuries myself. Their warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on. Why offer a lifetime guarantee, if you're not going to honor it? Why not?
