CONCERNING ISSUES - DO NOT RECOMMEND: Erroneous charges, and deficiencies within Recovery Village’s recruitment, assessment, billing, and patient care practices – STAY AWAY!
In March 2023, my 20-year-old son sought treatment at Recovery Village. This facility promised to address both mamajuana misuse and mental health issues. However, upon arrival, RV attempted to medicate him without conducting a proper assessment. They even sold him cigarettes, despite his age. Furthermore, my son was placed in a room with individuals who did not share his demographic or specific issues even though the recruiter insisted this would not happen. After two days, he left. RV also recruited my son with the understanding the charges would be around $900 per night, with insurance covering expenses after the deductible and co-insurance were met. However, my son received a bill for the two days totaling $6,764, which later mysteriously changed to $5,200 after my son requested an itemized bill. The billing department provided rude and unhelpful responses, and my son was told to take the matter up with the insurance company. It seems Recovery Village arbitrarily came up with a $2,600 per night charge, deducting the $600 paid by insurance, to conveniently end up with $2,000 per night ($4,000 total) due to apply to deductible and coinsurance! Since my son only stayed 2 nights, they over billed more than 200% to try to get the $4,000 in deductible and co-insurance that would have accrued over a months’ time. The insurance company confirmed that the provider had agreed to accept the contracted amount, but the facility dismissed these concerns and offered a 40% reduction if paid immediately. Additionally, my son is receiving separate bills for all medications he refused to take, requiring direct contact with the pharmacy. If my son had stayed the full month, it is likely he would have been overmedicated and left with unresolved issues, along with a potential bill of $78,000. RV’s deceptive practices not only harm their reputation but also erode trust in the integrity of all treatment centers. These erroneous charges, and deficiencies within recruitment, assessment, billing, and patient care practices are concerning. Treatment centers should uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and accountability to provide genuine help to those in need, Unfortunately, RV falls short of meeting these expectations. I strongly advise individuals to stay away from Recover Village.
