Easy to deal with, instrument arrived in A1 condition and when expected. Minor grump in that the instrument hadn’t been set up prior to dispatch, can understand why but this wasn’t made clear at the time of purchase.

Let me say at the outset that I am a retail nightmare - the customer from hell! My purchase wasn't high-end but the service I got was. I was unsure what I wanted (moving from electric guitar to finger-style acoustic) but I got advice, genuine interest and a very good instrument for not a large outlay. I will particularly commend Ben for the efforts he made to make my purchase happen - without him it wouldn't have worked out. Now to the instrument - An Avian Songbird. Wonderful tonewoods, exemplary build quality - and a design and features that simply amaze at this price-point. If you haven't looked at them you really should! In a online retail world that frequently disappoints this was a very positive experience - but next time I am going to visit the store!

I love my new guitar. It was everything they described. The only reason for the 4 star rating instead of 5 is mostly situational and unique to my circumstance. I live in the United States, so I was purchasing across currencies and importing the instrument, which is quite the convoluted process for the amateur international shopper. The staff was not very helpful in explaining anything beyond a vague disclaimer, which basically differs the burden of answering any questions more specifically. For example, when asked about customs duties importing into the US, I was given a non-answer that was something along the lines of "You may or may not incur customs duties on imports upon entry into your country. If so, it is your responsibility to pay these fees." So basically I was being told "Maybe, but it's your problem." And I'm cool with that, but be straightforward and upfront about it. This may just be my interpretation of the web chat, so some miscommunication might have occurred. If so, I apologize. However, there is a simple solution. I recommend a FAQ section that may have links to resources for those purchasing internationally. Personally, I was looking for a means to calculate or estimate the duties that I might expect to incur on such an item. To keep the business free of liability, one could envision a user defined Q&A section where customers share their experiences, helping TNAG answer questions without actually answering them. Also, start accepting Discover cards because I could've saved a ton on currency exchange fees if I didn't have to use PayPal.

Having visited their very impressive showroom, I was particularly heartened by Ben's refreshing attitude towards allowing me (and my wife) the time and space to trial a number of guitars across the price range that I was interested in. Cups of tea were forthcoming and a no-pressure environment was created with a couple of hours in which Ben was attentive when we needed him but absent when I was getting down to really trialing the beautiful guitar selection. Ben has detailed knowledge of all of the instruments that he sells and was able to really assist me in an informed choice having listened patiently to my requirements and requests. I would have no hesitation in recommending the North American Guitar Company for your next purchase. You might just find that perfect guitar that you didn't even know existed at a price that will be value for money!
