Happy HowlWhere it started:Rocky changedeverything andI never set out to start a dog food company. My husky Rocky had the worst stomach on the planet. Years of vet visits, prescription diets, and hundreds spent on premium food brands. We tried everything. Nothing worked. So I decided to build it myself. 36 recipe iterations. Countless hours with vets and nutritionists. All chasing one question: what’s the best food we could possibly make for a dog? When we finally got it right, Rocky was the proof. He hasn't been sick in over 18 months. He runs three miles with me every morning. That's the standard every Happy Howl bowl is held to. Nothing less.Colin Buckley– Founder

The on time delivery was great. We haven’t begun the food. We are anxious to begin when we return from vacation.

Thank you for the review! We're so glad to hear your delivery arrived right on time. Enjoy your vacation, and we hope your pup absolutely loves the food once you return and get a chance to start!

My pet would not eat the food. Sorry
Response from Happy HowlJun 11, 2026
Thank you for letting us know, and please don't worry about it. We’re sorry our food wasn't a match for your pup, but we truly appreciate you giving us a shot. We hope you find the perfect fit for them!

Food is very moist and creating a small portion for my 9lb 16yo Shizon, is difficult. Maybe look for a less wet version? Otherwise, she loves it after I warm, dry, then add to a plate
Response from Happy HowlJun 11, 2026
Thank you for the feedback! Our formulas naturally retain a good deal of moisture, which can make fine portioning for a 9lb dog a bit tricky. We love hearing how much she enjoys it once it's warmed up and dried, and we'll keep your preference for a firmer texture in mind.

the packaging is horrible. put the food in pouches. won't buy anymore because of packaging
Response from Happy HowlJun 11, 2026
We appreciate you sharing your experience. Our goal is to make mealtime as easy as possible, and we're sorry our packaging fell short for you. We will pass your feedback along to our production team as we look for ways to improve.

watery again. lost about a half inch of food to just water. not sure what is going on these days, but maybe time to change food.
Response from Happy HowlJun 11, 2026
We appreciate your feedback. Slight variations in moisture can happen depending on the batch, but every carton still contains the same full nutrition. We want to look into this for you—please email [email protected] with photos of the food so we can assist you directly.

i LIKE THAT IT IS PANTRYRY STORED BUT THAT IS ALL, IT SMELLS HORRIBLE AND IT GETS IN MY DOGS BEARD. SO FAR FRESH PET IS THE NUMBER ONE CHOICE. i HAVE TRIED THEM ALL, FARMERS DOG, OLLIE, SPOT AND TANGO, PETS TABLE, JUST THE ONES I CAN REMEMBER.

Thank you for sharing your honest feedback with us! We are glad you enjoyed the convenience of the pantry storage, but we completely understand how a strong aroma and a messy beard can make mealtime a hassle. Pups with beards definitely require a specific texture to keep cleanups easy! We appreciate you giving Happy Howl a spot on your taste-test list alongside so many other great brands, and we're glad you have found a routine with FreshPet that works perfectly for your home.

My dogs are very happy with the food, but I’m disappointed with the notification of shipment. I just got an email telling me a shipment was being prepared and I immediately wrote to ask for a delay. Got a response that it was too late to stop it. Very annoying that the notification came in such an untimely manner that order couldn’t be postponed. Food is good, customer service needs improvement.
Response from Happy HowlJun 1, 2026
We are glad to hear your dogs are enjoying the food. To clarify how our ordering system works, an automated upcoming order notification is sent out 2 days before any subscription order processes. This 2-day window is specifically provided to allow for any necessary adjustments, delays, or cancellations. Once that period passes and the order processes, the shipment immediately enters our fulfillment queue and cannot be stopped or postponed. We appreciate your feedback regarding the communication timing.

My dog loves the food and I appreciate that it is shelf stable with great ingredients. The last batch of Chicken however is messy and does not hold together for portioning the way the prior and other flavors do. It has not made my dog sick or disinterested so we are using it but please correct this issue.

We are so happy to hear your pup is loving the turkey! We take great pride in our innovative cooking process, though it can occasionally lead to some natural variations in texture. We’d love to take a closer look at this for you—could you please email us at [email protected] with a photo of the food and the top of the carton? This will help our quality team investigate further. Thank you for your support and for helping us keep our recipes top-notch!
