I would avoid doing business with these guys. I ordered food for my three dogs and followed the feeding guidelines. Unfortunately, despite trying for three days and using two different recipes, my dogs just did not like it. Here is the bad part. Once these guys get your money they only care about getting more. There is no way to contact anyone for ANYTHING. I am or was open for any suggestions, but these guys went as dark as possible and there is no way to get answers, support, info. NOTHING. Not worth experimenting with your dog if these guys don't respond. Go somewhere else....

This place nearly starved my dog and…
This place nearly starved my dog and customer service is non-existent. You will wait on hold for an hour. I switched to Ollie's and got twice as much food for the money and they actually answer the phone. Avoid The Farmer's Dog, owned by Venture Capitalists and get Ollie's owned by a family. The packaging of The Farmer's Dog is inconvenient, besides being too small a portion. No nutrition labels, either, or ingredients, even when asked. The color suggests a lot of greens and little meat. Bad experience all around.

The food might be good but customer…
The food might be good but customer service is not. I received the box a day after promised, with zero dry ice, and none of the product was frozen. I realize this is due to a fedex issue but I didn't receive a response from customer service regarding this problem yet did receive a message that they are sending my next allotment. I requested a cancelation and they sure responded quickly to canceling my account too. I guess they would rather have you cancel than deal with the delivery problem. Just a warning that you might not be getting edible food for your pup in the time promised.

I signed up for a TRIAL
I signed up for a TRIAL, to TRY this food for my dog. Shortly afterward, and actually the first box from you only just arrived TODAY (July 9, 2021) I received some very bad medical news & will NOT be able to afford this dog food going forward. In my account on The Farmers Dog site, it said if I was going to cancel I had to do it by July 14th, which I absolutely DID observe; I cancelled today. I got an email from some smarty pants on your Customer Service desk that said 'too bad, your next order's already prepared', which is utter NONSENSE if it's truly "fresh food". I promise you, I will file a formal complaint against your company with my State Atty General's Office, Consumer Affairs Division. Your "trial" isn't really a trial at all, but a way to get your foothold into unsuspecting customer's bank accounts or credit cards, where you can make yourselves another couple $hundred$ before the poor consumer can do anything about your chicanery. Even if you made the most fabulous dog food in the world, your business model is DISHONEST, deceptive and disingenuous because you put one date on the website for cancellation and another date altogether when the customer tries to end the subscription. I want you to know: I'm a cancer patient & I'm upset enough right now that really don't care who reads that. I think it'd take some low-life scum to rob me this way after I did exactly what your website said I had to in order to end my subscription, but you're going to bill me again ANYWAY. I saw that other customers leaving reviews here have had the same experience with you. I will see this through to it's bitterest legal end, whatever shape that takes. I'm SICK of e-merchants who use subscriptions as a way to keep their hands in customer's pockets. I WANT THAT ORDER CANCELLED BECAUSE I DIDN'T MAKE IT!!!! Do NOT charge me another cent.

Love the food - hate the delivery
Love the food - but delivery has been horrible. No updates on when to expect it to arrive other than the initial email. Two shipments ago it arrived on the last day with no dry ice left and 1/2 of the food thawed----which I threw away. I am afraid I am in store for the same result this shipment. No updates and as of today no shipment. I have visions of getting it tomorrow with the same result

I have nothing but praise
I have nothing but praise for the Farmer’s Dog. When I first ordered the service I was a little apprehensive as to whether the shipments would arrive on schedule with the food still frozen. Every shipment since we started in August 2020 has been right on time and in perfect condition. Most importantly, my Boston Terrier loves the food. Within four weeks after she started eating it she started acting like a puppy again, running around and enjoying her life.

Wow! It's amazing to know your Boston Terrier is feeling like a puppy again. It brings us so much joy to know your pup is loving life and feeling good. We're always here for you two ❤️

Bait & Switch
We had a negative experience with The Farmer's Dog. To start, we received food that was mislabeled - not a huge deal, but we'd intended to start our dog on turkey as we'd read it was more digestible & thus easier to transition with. Instead chicken was labeled as turkey and vice versa.
Bigger issue is the bait & switch on pricing. What was not clear in the sign-up process is that the first two shipments are 14 days worth of food, but the price quoted is for shipments of 28 days worth of food. We don't have a ton of freezer space, so when I noticed that our plan shifted to 28 days for the 3rd shipment, I moved it back to 14 days and saw the price increase by 20%.
I called customer service and they explained this is a new process they're trying out, where they ship smaller "transition shipments" of 14 days for your first two orders, and then send you monthly shipments after that. The operator explained I must have missed that explanation on the order confirmation page about how the quoted price is actually for monthly shipments, and if you want 14 days after your second shipment, your price will go up significantly. I just went back through the order process and saw no such clarification up until you submit the order. I can only trust the operator that it is on the order confirmation page - after you've already signed up. :/
I will say that our dog liked the food, but for the high cost I never expected to get mislabeled food, or for the company to intentionally hide the fact that the rate only applies to an entire month's worth of food AFTER you've signed up.
Trust is highly important for any company that's providing for our dog, and I found that severely lacking with The Farmer's Dog given the mislabeled food and intentional games with pricing. That's why we cancelled our subscription and will give one of the competitor's with cheaper rates a shot.
