They keep 20% and make you pay for shipping
In a time where physical inventory in most stores is about nil, the only way to try on clothes is to order them online. At the dress outlet, not only do they NOT give you a full refund (they keep 20% for "restocking"), but they make you pay for the shipping ($10). Every other store I have ordered from has given me a full refund and paid for shipping - not just Amazon, but Windsor and Macy's. That was the last time I ever shop for, let alone buy, anything at this store.

Beware of the return policy
Beware of the return policy! I do a lot of online shopping and often have to return items that are not as they appear or don't fit. This is expected when shopping online. This company has such a stringent return policy that you might as well plan on being stuck with whatever you buy.

Order still not delivered after 30 days
Update: I did get a full refund just a few days after canceling the order that had not arrived after 30 days. Original review: I ordered a duster jacket pant ensemble on 7/18/21 for an event on 8/7/21. It is now 8/18/21, and the ensemble has still not been delivered. I did return to the Dress Outlet website and start a chat to inform the customer service rep* that I was canceling the order and not paying any "restocking fee." *Brittany typed that the full amount would be credited to my credit card account. We shall see. This is a ridiculous business model. Since I wasn't ordering through Amazon, I wasn't expecting next-day delivery, but I did expect the order to arrive within 14 days. It makes me question my efforts to order directly from merchants to avoid Amazon when possible. What I have learned from this experience is that Amazon's clients offer quicker turn-around and are much more reliable.

Stay away
Stay away. Dress arrived late. Had to get another dress for my daughter's wedding. Never even opened the packaging. They have to approve a return even for store credit and I was told it was outside there return window after it took them a day to get back to me. No other store Ever has a 5 day turn around but it is fine that they were late with delivery and I had to chase the dress down and keep asking why no delivery update. Stay Away! Horrible company!

Hi Claudia, I am so sorry that you had such a negative experience. Due to the 4th of July weekend the dress was processed on the 6th and therefore arrived delayed which is obviously not your fault and totally ours. I have advised the customer service team. I don't know who helped you but you were misinformed and can of course return a dress when we don't deliver it in a timely manner. Be ready to accept bad service
They have such a tight, not well publicized refund time, plus 20% restocking fee!!! Steer clear of this web site!!

Hi Sandra, I am sorry you had a negative experience. Our return policy is stated clearly in our returns and exchanges. I advise to always read that when shopping online since each company has a different policy to maintain their business model. The reason we have this policy is to able to offer our dresses at such great prices and it works great for our returning customers. Most formal wear retailers do not accept any returns at all. Do not order from here
Do not order from here - their return policy is ridiculous. They give you a mere 5 day window from the time of delivery to request a return, AND you will incur a 20% restocking fee. NO ONE operates this way. There are plenty of other sites to shop that have reasonable return policies for unworn dresses.

NOT EASY RETURNS
NOT EASY RETURNS - In addition to the 20% restocking fee (which is clearly stated and I saw that from the beginning) they make you pay your own return shipping AND return shipping for any exchanges which supposedly are "free." Completely misleading.

Bad return policy, go elsewhere
They got the dress to me right away came within 5 days, however they are VERY unclear about their return policy, which I feel makes for dishonesty and overall didn't have a good experience with them. They would not let me return the dresses that I got from them, after less than 30 days which is standard on all shopping sites. Their return policy is that you need to return your item in 5 days of receiving the order, and they charge a 20% restocking fee (or full refund for store credit only) Would recommend going somewhere else, not worth the trouble if something doesn't fit right or just doesn't fit with what is needed don't expect to get your money back.

Hi Esty, thank you for your review! Yes we had a guideline where you needed to REQUEST a return within 5 days but you still had 14 days to return it to us. The simple reason for that is that we are a retailer with very low prices and we try not to hold our stock for too long to be able to maintain our prices for our customers. Therefore we make order processes and return processes quick. Our prices are low and therefore we charge a restocking fee to maintain our prices and our quality. I understand that this is maybe not the ordinary way but it works for most of our customers since they know their brands and sizes. We would always love to assist you with finding the right size and fit to avoid the restocking fee or you can simply chose a store credit which is the FULL AMOUNT and never expires.
