I was told that after I was connected successfully once that it would persist. I was also told I had to purchase a new license and now my instance is using the old license so there is something a miss here. I think it would be a good idea to go back to the License Key model for those customers that leverage VPN and have these types of issue. I enjoy using the SW when it works but it is getting to the point that 2 days of troubleshooting and addition time spent trying to get the license connected after a reboot is not worth the goodness.

I'm sorry to hear about the frustration you've experienced. It sounds like there may be more to investigate regarding the license currently in use and the connection behavior after rebooting. Please continue working with our support team so they can review your setup in more detail and help resolve the issue. We appreciate both your feedback and your continued use of the software.

My complaint was that I hadn't been removed from their mailing list so I had to log a ticket to be removed and now I get reminder emails (the 4th reminder) to tell them how they went....

I really hate the SAS model! I would really rather have a purchase model with an maintenance agreement. The costs to the end user are reduced and you have a reliable income stream and the user can stop maintenance if they feel that their not getting the value the expect from support and software upgrades. This also keeps you focused on delivering value. And did I say I hate the SAS model. I don't know if you saw the announcement about some folks who used AI to rebuild the Adobe (the original SAS Sinner themselves) suite as an open source suite of programs. I don't know know if you have ever tried to work with Adobe, their support sucks and they are highly unresponsive when contacted their are the smuggest company I've had the misfortune to have to work with. DOnt become the next Adobe dump the SAS model.

I’ve been using your products since I got my first job as a network engineer over 30 years ago Over the years I’ve bought more than a dozen of your products and recommended you to at least a dozen of my former clients When I purchased my last version of Camtasia pro 2024, and Snag-it 2024 bundle it said it had a lifetime license. Recently, you have decided that you’re no longer going to honor my 2024 lifetime versions of the application applications just 2 years after they were published. To make matters worse, you will not offer an upgrade price discount. I feel that the management at Techsmith is no longer the type of company that I want to do business with. I’m very disappointed that there is absolutely no discount given because this is an upgrade I’m looking at other products to replace yours Have a nice day

Hi Gregg, Thanks for being a TechSmith customer for so many years. We truly appreciate the support you've shown us over the decades and the recommendations you've made to your clients. I'm sorry for the frustration here. I did want to clarify one point: your Camtasia 2024 and Snagit 2024 licenses will continue to work. We're not disabling those products or taking away access to software you've already purchased. The dates you referenced are the end of technical support for those versions, not the end of the licenses themselves. That said, I understand your disappointment regarding upgrade pricing. I'll be reaching out to you directly to discuss options and see what we can do to help with a move to one of our current subscription plans. Thanks again for taking the time to share your feedback.

From the outset, and to be clear – Snagit as a product is an excellent tool and use it extensively to support teaching and research, and Technical Support. Unfortunately, the customer service behind it is anything but supportive. As one of the larger education providers in the UK - 20k+, I doubt this experience will come as much of a surprise leaving 2 stars - at best – and that is purely because the software itself is strong. The support to date could tempt me to shave off one more given an unlicenced product is of no use. I have held a licensed copy of Snagit for a couple of years and renew its maintenance annually via our business purchase-order system. The renewal cost is modest, but its a licence no-the-less. This year, I raised a purchase order three days before renewal was due after a reminder was received. On the renewal date itself, nothing had changed, so I reached out to support through the website support to confirm they received my PO and to provide evidence. To their credit, the initial support technician was excellent – I provided all payment and account details, and the issue was promptly escalated by him to sales. So far, so good. Then everything stalled. Three days passed. Nothing. I chased. A day later, I was told the case had been escalated to Tier 2. Again, promising in theory. Five days and several follow-up messages on my ticket, still no action, no clarity, and no progress whatsoever. I signed out of the software and back in to see if that will help and the old date remains. My old key and account remains as per the previous year. I appreciate that renewals may involve a convoluted process behind the scenes, but the lack of communication gives a very clear impression my account is being quietly sidelined, or worse, nudged towards a full-price repurchase and wonder how many others with the old licencing are affected by this. If that is not the intention, I apologise, but it certainly feels like it. A great product cannot compensate for poor support that appears unresponsive, opaque, and frankly indifferent with no complaints or feedback portal on their own website - which is odd in itself. I hope this experience prompts some reflection within the support and sales teams, because customers – even existing and long-standing ones – should not have to fight this hard merely to renew something they already paid for fully in the past.

Hi, Thank you for your feedback and for being a long-term Snagit user. I have located your ticket and contact information, and I want to apologize for the radio silence. Upon investigation, it appears your ticket was not escalated properly due to an internal error, leaving it stalled in the queue. This was a breakdown in our process, not an intentional delay, and certainly not an attempt to force a repurchase. This has now been escalated properly, and you should be hearing back from our team shortly with a resolution. Thank you for bringing this to our attention so we could fix it.

It's annoying that I can only record for 5 minutes at a time with your app. If I want to record longer sequences, I have to reconfigure and start the next sequence every 5 minutes. This results in individually saved clips with time gaps. Even when saving 5-minute sequences, it would be better if I could initially configure the recordings so that, after completing the individual recordings, I could play them back one after the other in such a way that the very short pauses in between would be barely noticeable.
Response from TechSmith CorporationNov 3, 2025
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand that the 5-minute recording limit in our free online version can be frustrating when you're trying to capture longer sequences. We'd like to clarify that while each scene has a 5-minute limit, a single project can have unlimited scenes. The transition between those should be seamless in your final exported video, with no gaps or pauses. If you need to make longer, continuous recordings in a single take, we recommend checking out our desktop software, Snagit and Camtasia. We appreciate you taking the time to review the app and hope this information helps!

The only thing that MUST be changed is the renewal method... very very old fashion. In 2025 something more modern MUST be a default. Anyway, the software is very good and I'll suggest.
Response from TechSmith CorporationNov 3, 2025
Thank you so much for your review and for recommending our software! We're glad you're finding it useful. We also truly appreciate your candid feedback. You are completely right—the process for legacy maintenance renewals and seat extensions is outdated. We hear you, and we are actively looking for ways to modernize and streamline that entire experience. Thanks again for helping us improve!
