We have used tax cloud out of laziness for 10+ years. It started quite affordably and despite providing the same service has gone up in price quite a bit. They just gave notice that after next month its going up to $80 to calculate sales tax on just 200 orders, and far more after that. This is better than the last price increase where they just doubled the monthly fee and we didn't find out until our statement. We have also had taxcloud grossly over bill us and support be rough at best. Yeah its some work to migrate to something else, but its worth the hassle. Given their are services for $49 a month that calculate 250 transactions (after that is $100 for 1000 vs tax cloud at $300 for 1000) and they do tax calculations globally. Yeah they were integrated with our cart, but we have a few more hours of testing a new solution and can then put tax cloud in our rear view for good.

I feel like this business is run by people who have no idea what they are doing. Their customer service is terrible. I pointed out a serious security breach to them a year ago that still exists. They charge hidden fees and you cannot get any sort of report on how the fees were generated. They make processing returns an arduous process (you have to upload a spreadsheet, and months later it says 0 lines imported - so you have no way of knowing if you were credited for the returns). The website was clearly created by someone with zero data entry experience. It is unwieldy to use. I also get inconsistent tax rates for the same address when using the manual tax calculator. They incorrectly report tax exempt sales in the same total as amounts that are not subject to tax (for example, shipping in some states). If we were to get audited, this could lead to fines. We only use this company because it is currently the only one that works with our shopping cart. If I could find another, more professional company, I would change in a heartbeat.

I've emailed a few times expressing my concern regarding my Amazon Sales Tax Report. The directions don't 100% match my TaxCloud account, so I'm not sure if you're actually getting my sales tax report? I've called on the phone only to be told to email. It would be nice if someone would answer my emails so that I know everything is working properly.

This site is very unreliable. It has numerous API failures to properly calculate the sales tax so we end up using an average. The only way it will work each month is for us to manually upload the transactions. Even doing this is somewhat of a nightmare. I only hope they are actually filing our sales tax!

I don't get results/answers/corrections to when incorrect sales tax is calculated. Edit: I've been waiting for reply and corrections since June. I've emailed go, service, & Ginia. I've included attachments and links in all emails to advise on the calculation errors.

One of our sites just doesn't work right. TaxCloud has us send a list of transactions the website has captured and they process it at the end of the month. The other site works ok now, but it took a while to get going. We had a "special need" earlier this year and TaxCloud worked on it - and somehow ended up registering us with a variety of state sales tax offices using one of customer's addresses!

We started using TaxCloud several years ago because it easily integrated with WooCommerce. It worked great at first - the tax rates always calculated correctly. Our only issue at that time was poor service from TaxCloud Support. When a customer enters their tax exemption information, TaxCloud obscures the customer's tax id from us. We need this information to be able to file so we always have to go back to the customers to get their tax exemption forms since the information provided through TaxCloud is useless. Many times we opened support tickets with TaxCloud and were promised they would fix the issue. But they would just close the support ticket with no resolution. At least 3 times we were promised they would fix it and then they closed our tickets. Even so we continued to use the service because it was integrated with our website and was calculating the rates correctly. However over time the service has become extremely unreliable. It seems as though they are not staying on top of tax rate changes and more and more often we are finding that the amount of tax they collected was not correct. It is causing an accounting nightmare and we are currently trying to find another solution. Three years ago we would have recommended this service. Now I would absolutely recommend NOT it. **9/25/2020 - The company reached out to me after I left this review and we had a call to talk through the issues we have had. So far they seem very sincere about addressing these issues. I will post another update if anything changes.

Server failures occur too frequently. Customer support not very responsive. Lookups lost causing errors trying to capture taxes.
