System76's staff were helpful but their website doesn't specify the currency that the prices are in. Basically every other competitor does. There's zero warning that it is USD rather than local currency which can change prices from reasonable to very expensive. (Love that it's getting fixed! Please don't force Aussies to pay US prices if you can avoid it)

Would be 5 stars, but Goddam that Meerkat was expensive! Surely you can do better.

I expected better QA for the product before shipping; one of the speaker plugs was not wired. Unnecessary incurred costs due to shipping and taxes overseas and technician to resolve ANOTHER issue that was not hardware related eventually, even though I mentioned that it could be from OS incompatibility but was dismissed early. Good product, but not the best experience if you aren't living in the US.

1. PopOS is amazing! 2. The keyboard is the WORST I have ever had in my life on any other laptops. The buttons are too small; "Fn" and "Ctrl" are swapped (in comparison with a default layout you can see on other laptops); when you press buttons the keyboard flexes downwards; the keys travel is very short. If there was an option to pay substantially more and get the regular keyboard (like ThinkPad or MacBook level keyboard), I would definitely do that. 3. Poor build quality: you really have to apply a lot of force in order to open a lid (again, never seen that on any other laptop); camera shutter almost has no friction.

For identical specs about 1.5x price conpared to a Dell WinOS laptop (with minor design/weight advantages). About 0.8x the price of a similar Mac. Price needs to come down significantly to remain competitive, cannot sell Linux at infinite % markup despite managing the UI. The laptop would wipe out competition at $1250ish as opposed to current $2000ish.

When I filled out the address on line, after I closed out of the Checkout, for some reason it changed the address from E 80th to W 80th. I had issues with UPS but I was eventually able to fix it. Outside of that, everything else went smoothly

The unpacking experience was alright. I expected a little more from it. There aren't enough key caps either. The lighting doesn't really illuminate the keys well. The keyboard itself is very expensive. I got lucky and saved a couple of dollars off the price. I do love the sound the keys make when they bottom out. I submitted a review here shorts/FydlX82USwI. I did eventually set it to white, but it's unclear. Whether it gets any brighter, even with the saturation and brightness up.

My new desktop with Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS initial setup was not a problem. But within the first 2 weeks I ran into multiple issues with the Cosmic desktop. Once the fan revved up and stayed revved upon login. I power-cycled the desktop and it would not reboot fully; it hung on (initramfs). I had to run fsck to reboot it. Another time PyCharm hung while navigating settings menu and I could not kill it via the System Monitor. I closed all other apps and tried to restart via the start/restart dialog box. Again, the system failed to boot completely and hung on (initramfs). I like the appearance and normal responsiveness of the Cosmic desktop. But I'm now wondering if it should have stayed in Beta a while longer. I'm considering switching to a new desktop environment. Customer service did not get me up and running when I was stuck on the first problem, though they responded fairly promptly to my ticket and my results from applying their suggestions.
