System76Reviews of system76.com

The laptop fails every time it goes to suspend. Power failing a brand new laptop is the only way to recover. A quick google search reveals this has been a known issue for about a year. I guess quality control is out of the question. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

Hardware itself is great and works advertised but they send spam requesting reviews.

The computer made banging sounds when I tried to boot it up. Then it shut down. Tech support couldn't get it to boot up either. I had to email the CEO to expedite an RMA. Slow to give me a partial refund after they received the computer back in the same condition they sent it to me. I have some advice for them to improve but I am waiting for a full refund.

I'm getting a firmware update announcement that won't be satisfied, I've updated and restarted about ten times now and it still pops up. Now, when I close the laptop lid, I expect it to go to sleep or shut down, and when I reopen it, it's locked up with a whole screen full of "Failed to sync, bluetooth" I didn't copy the exact message yet. And it won't respond to any keys, I have to perform a manual shutdown with the off key and then push the off key again and wait for a restart.

I recently bought a System76 Pangolin 15 laptop. I liked the macbook-esque aesthetics combined with fully linux compatible hardware. However when I received the trackpad was lifted outside of its recess in 2 of the 4 corners, something clearly visible to even the most surface level quality control. Upon contacting customer service they were quick to offer me a replacement laptop in return for the original one they had sent me. This seemed great at first until I inquired about who would cover the cost of customs tax and shipping (I live in the UK). As it turns out system76 have a clause in their warranty which states they will not pay for shipping or customs for warranty replacements being exported from the US, bear in mind that this a warranty that is forced upon you at the point of purchase. Because of this I would be looking at paying roughly 500 GBP in order receive the replacement laptop. And this is the cause of the problem, if you are in the EU and receive a faulty laptop, or wish to RMA one that broke within the course of your warranty you will effectivley have to pay half the original price of the laptop you purchased in order to receive a replacement. This is so annoying as aside from the trackpad the product is great. The screen is good, battery life -although less than what is advertised when using a distro other than Pop-OS- is good and the keyboard is good for a laptop aswell.

Computer had major problems from the beginning and could not get response from support. After almost two weeks I returned it.

Pangolin 15 laptop total hardware failure, within four months of purchase. Returned the laptop for repair and cannot get a response from support regarding the status. $2000 down the drain?

The computer never arrived UPS claims that someone named "CECE" received it, however there's no one by that name in the house. I made a claim with UPS to no avail. I raised ticket 225275 with System76 support yesterday and still don't have an answer but for the automated response. I have timing issues with this order. Added June 20th: support generated replacement order. After 8 days, machine was not built and ETA seems to be 3 more weeks. The timing issues exploded and noone cared. Support took more than 4 days to reply to multiple messages. I stand by my 1 star rating.
