SGN C.
Make sure that you do your research
I have an SGN11.4khb-48 inverter and one night around 2am or 3am my house went dark. Inverter had stopped working completely after about a year of flawless service. My Mother-In-Law is on high-flow medical oxygen so I had to rewire everything to go back to the grid for power in the middle of the night. The next night I got a response from SunGoldPower that my issue was a firmware issue. I couldn't figure out how they knew that but there it is. The one-message-per-night with support stuff went on for nearly a week with them asking me every night to connect to wifi so that they could connect and fix the problem (even though the inverter WOULD NOT connect to wifi because the firmware bricked it) and I decided to just purchase a new inverter. I chose SunGold's 11k15pro rather than something from EG4 because I figured that if my initial inverter came back up I would parallel them. Long story short, it turns out that something happened and it appears that a firmware update went completely wrong and bricked my system. I was able to get it back up manually doing the firmware updates (SGN knew exactly what firmware was left to be installed somehow). SunGold support swears that they have never and would never do a firmware update without the customers knowledge and approval so they say that they didn't do this one that caused me to be without my solar for nearly 2 weeks. Long story short, I don't know if they bricked my system or not but I found out after ordering, mounting and connecting the 11k15pro that the two aren't compatible to be paralleled. I should have done more research but google said that thy would work together so I bought it. Unfortunately, since I had already unboxed, mounted and commissioned the inverter, I couldn't send it back so I have what we have come to affectionately call "my $3000 mistake" hanging on my wall as a "backup". I will say that I completely removed the wifi dongle from my inverter(s) and will not be letting anyone have access to them without my express prior knowledge and consent. You know, just to be on the safe side. Since I did the manually firmware upgrade I have not had any other problems, though. Basically I'm saying "Don't be like me." Don't leave your wifi dongle connected at all times and be very careful and read reviews on the company and its service BEFORE buying one "much less 2" devices from them.

We understand your concern about how we identified the firmware issue, and we’d like to clarify what happened. At the time, we had received reports from som customers experiencing similar issues with the SGN11.4KHB-48. In those cases, updating the firmware resolved the problem and restored normal operation. Based on these cases, our technical team checked your inverter’s existing firmware version and determined that the firmware was likely related to the issue. This was not a random assumption. We also want to clarify that our support team does not perform firmware updates without the customer’s knowledge and approval. We understand your concern about remote access, especially after experiencing an unexpected system shutdown, and we respect your decision to control access to your Wi-Fi dongle. We sincerely apologize for the disruption this caused, particularly given the circumstances in your household. We’re glad to hear that the inverter has been operating normally since you completed the firmware update manually. Regarding the SGN11.4KHB-48 and 11K15PRO, we also acknowledge that these two models cannot be paralleled. We understand how frustrating it was to discover this after purchasing and installing the second inverter, and we’ll continue working to make compatibility information clearer for customers. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Your feedback is important to us and will be shared with our technical and support teams.
