The installation was great and they took the time to get it correct. They also spent the time showing how to operate it.

We purchased a pre owned Stannah 600 a little over 2 years ago. For the first 2 years we bought maintenance agreements and last year the lift was reporting errors so we had a tech come and look at it. (We also did the suggested maintenance appointment every year.) We were told the unit needed batteries so we had them replaced. The same day, the lift was used and it began to beep at the top of the railing as if it wasn’t being charged. My husband called the service company and they put him through to the tech who said this is normal. We knew this not to be the case because it never happened before so we used the remote to gently force it up a smidgen and that seemed to stop it indicating it wasn't aligned properly. The problem appeared to fix itself so we did not pursue it further at that time. Recently though, late one night it started beeping again at the top of the railing. My husband said it wasn't charging so he sent it down to the bottom and then commanded it back to the top. The extender rail would not completely retract so he gently assisted it and the chair seemed to be again charging at the very top. A week later I commanded the lift to come down from the top and it just stopped in the middle of the retractable rail and flashed a code 9. This was on a Friday night and the rail was blocking an entrance into an adjoining room. So at this point it was obvious it needed attention so my husband called the service company for our region. What he got was an employees voice message box stating they try to check in on their messages daily. By Monday afternoon he had not received any attempts to contact him by phone or email. (Btw, he did call Stannah on the weekend and they were very pleasant but again referred him to regional services.) That afternoon he directly called the regional servicer and they had no record of his 3 calls but were prompt in setting up an appointment. Mind you, this is not the first time we have had issues with the servicer. For the first 2 years, even though we paid for a maintenance agreement that included one yearly checkup and one service call, they charged us for the yearly checkup both years and we had to call to get it straightened out. Nevertheless, when this year was creeping up, we asked several times about a maintenance contract for 2023 and were finally told they were not offering them any more plus now they required a credit card on file to do any servicing. Fast forward to today when my husband was told on his call that we could now purchase a maintenance agreement. No one ever contacted us about that. Imagine now how we feel about our purchase and the company chosen to service it. My point to this review is about what Stannah should require of its servicing arms and provide for them. Stannah is selling its product to a majority of disabled people many of which are elderly while advertising high quality in servicing their equipment. The same people sometimes are wheel chair bound, live alone or have limited income. When they rely on a Stannah product, and that equipment breaks down, they are in an emergency situation that needs to take top priority. Communication is essential to making that happen and relying on one persons voice mail, that may or may not be listened to, with no follow up is inadequate. Even if they have the means to contact a fire department, policemen or a neighbor, they may have no where else to go. The least that should be provided to them is an answering service that can make sure the servicing company is promptly contacted for priority scheduling and perhaps even reach out to local services to aid them. An answering service can take notes, ask questions and email the proper people in the regional servicing area with the information they need to setup an appointment. Each Stannah stairlift purchased, new or pre owned through an authorized dealer, should be registered with Stannah with contacts to be notified if the purchaser needs immediate attention. These verified contacts can also serve to be helpful in getting technicians access to the home for repair purposes. I am aware that Covid has played a part in making these things more difficult for many places of employment, staffing in particular, however a global approach might shore up the holes. Quality control is best done at corporate level and this is one area which needs serious attention so that all outfits providing service repair conduct themselves on the same level.

Hi Mrs. Bonner, We're sorry for the recent experience you had with your stairlift. While we engineer our stairlifts to be as reliable as possible, some minor issues, like batteries, can arise over time. We do offer many of the services you suggested, such as a professional answering service, service contracts and weekend call out service in our direct service areas. However, your stairlift was purchased from a third party dealer. They are an independent business, rather than a service branch of Stannah, so we have no direct control over their operations and processes. We did pass on the message we received from you over the weekend, but the fastest way to get in touch for local service is to contact the company you purchased the stairlift from directly. Still, we appreciate that this was a frustrating situation for you and we will reach out to the dealer with this feedback. We hope that in the future, you'll be happier with their communication, so that you can rely on both your stairlift and your local service team, without reservation. Sincerely, The Stannah Team

Company went out of their wsy to make sure the stairlift was installed prior to me getting home from rehab. They only had 3 days notice. The installer, Jose. Was very courteous and professional. He took the time to explain everything to my husband and answered all of his questions. Very happy with experience and would highly recommend company.
